You Darn People !

I thought I was doing good hitting (5 shot) 1/2 groups at 30 yards.... and my normal shooting was always done at 25 yards....

But, you darn people got me hooked on 50 yards now....and (65)
In the past I could not really see going past 30 yards ...
I join the forum and now I am shooting very good at 50 yards....
I get sub 1/2 groups... but not all are in my 1/2 inch target... that is my goal... to shoot 1/2 inch targets 100%
I know my R10 BSA can do it....

I don't know wether to be upset with you all or thank you for opening up my eyes....

Because... NOW I am addicted and can't get enough of the 50 yards shots.... Darn you all !

;-)

 Billy,
Your using a good rifle. Yrrah (down under type fellow) inspired me to take it out to 100 yards in about 1999, used a career 707II .25, thought that may best rifle and......
But, Shooting Field Target improves ones shooting skill more than anything else you can do with airgun. After a friend David B should up with his Diana 75 (6fpe) and shoot 55 yard target's I thought , well if he can shoot 55 yards at 6fpe my 12fpe .177 rig should shoot 110. So I tried it, found with a leapers scope on 9x I could get 3 shot groups inside a quarter (okay not THE best but it is an airgun) as long as I shot fast between wind shifts. THAT improved my long range shooting!
Perhaps you already own one but if not you now NEED a .177 "12fpe" rifle - heck maybe a pistol if your the type but not me-.
Try it, you WILL like it.

.177 12fpe.... 50 yards...
I have thought about that.... but figured they would not reach out that far... Wow...

You people will be the first to know if I ever get my first 5 shot grouping into 1/2 target at 50 yards....
Oh wait a minute..... maybe not.... the wife will be the first to know.. because I will be yelling and whooping so loud...

I have set up and tried 65 yards........ can't seem to group them well...
I can hit the 1/2 inch target maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10 shots.... but no real groups (yet)..... Ya notice I said ( YET) didn't ya....

John is spot on!! I learned more with a .177 at 100 yards than any other gun!! What a freaking challenge!! I sold all my .177's but am looking to build another because of exactly what John is talking about!! BTW, I have a Diana 70 for my son that gets shot way past it's limits and it is a ball!!

I was the same, I could get tiny groups at 30 yards and the same at 40 but once I tried 50+ it was a whole new world and I was looking at nearly an inch groups!!

Now I practice at 75 and 100 and my 50 yard groups at like my 30 and 40 yard groups used to be.

i have a little bit of an excuse though... Until a year ago I was using sub 12fpe .22 and .177 where as now I'm on 30fpe .22 and its wind bucking ability makes a hugeeee difference!

My .177 gas ram blew a seal so it is out of commission. That was my plinking gun for tin cans etc. I am a poor shot with it to be honest and needed to up my caliber and accuracy to deal with an influx of foxes that have decided they like my chickens too much so ordered a .25 cal PCP. I have literally thousands of .177 pellets and now that I have an air tank and plenty of starlings and house sparrow I am going to add a .177 PCP after seeing all you guys nailing tight groups at distance.

Darn you people!
