Yong heng: which one from where?

Walmart is best place to purchase one- I’ve purchased 3 Yong Hengs - here’s my experience.

1st one from Walmart / no problems - still going strong.

2nd one from Amazon ( was missing parts, had to order what was missing ) bought as back up to the 1st one just in case.

3rd from EBay - bought on a whim cause of cheaper price - ( never was delivered- eBay refunded money -)

I bought mine off ebay. The ad said 2 year warranty in one section of the ad, and in another section it read 5 year warranty. I emailed the seller and asked if it was 2 years or 5 years and asked if it was a genuine Yong Heng or a copy. They replied back apologizing for the confusion, stated it was a 5 year warranty and guaranteed it was a genuine Yong Heng, or they would refund my money plus $500. I also submitted an offer lower than advertised and they accepted. Arrived in 1 week from NY. PM me if you want the seller name.

OK Checking out Walmart.

When I look I see several different listings for this product. I see some comments of people being shipped the simple one when they ordered the pressure setting one. Most vendors there have no reviews or at most one or two with a small number of stars like two or three stars.

Prices are $318-$399

Not sure how to pick one of these because they all look pretty bad. If they are being sold through Walmart does the Walmart protection cover me even if they are shady? I don't trust someone with no reviews or only three reviews and 2.5 / 5 stars...

The Yong Heng "simple version" least expensive does not have a water separator you need one.

The "auto stop" version shuts off near 3000psi.

So you likely want the "Hardcover" or 'Set pressure' versions your choice on the 110V or 220V.

Keep them cool, the oil topped off, to the red circle in the sight glass and don't fill past their spec which I think is 4350psi, a little less is better than the max, and the Yong Heng should last for years unless you get a bad one. I ran one of mine for a couple of minutes without oil OOPS! I did my first oil change at about an hour far longer, between changes, after that.

I have two YH compressors bought the second as a backup for the first as I fergot to turn on the coolant pump several times and overheated it until it smoked. I added a switched outlet to the system so it turns the pump on before the compressor will power up to keep me from doing that from now on. The second one, my back up unit, died in about two months bad QC from the factory. Cost me a $12, for a new second stage piston, and an hour to repair it. The #1 unit that I was worried about just kept on filling my guns and tanks till I got #2 repaired and retired it.

I do not fill past 4200psi as when I do, all too often, I blow a burst disc. This does not happen on the first or second fill but soon thereafter.

The temperature sensor only measures head temperature so running it much over 20-30 minutes can overheat the motor and other parts even if ice is used in the coolant. Ice or a container of it, in the coolant, is a good idea especially if you are like me and do not use the full five gallons of water as suggested in the manual.

Keep your water supply level with the compressor to be kind to the pump and assure a good supply of coolant goes through the compressor.

Keep your moisture filters, guns and tanks being filled above the compressor to help keep the moisture out.

Purge the system of moisture for a couple of seconds every five minutes while in use.

Change out your small YH filter every twenty minutes and set the old one out to dry and use later.

Add a better filter if needed to be sure more moisture is removed from the system. Many of us use this Tuxing three media filter although, if you feel the need, you can change media types at any time.

A smaller one will probly do for many.

Bleed the pressure before you turn the unit off and let it run a few seconds to get the better part of the moisture out of the system. I have found that I blow less burst discs if I bleed before shutting down so I do this religiously.

Let the coolant pump run for a few minutes after shutdown to cool things off.

Got mine off ebay. Took a good year to blow it up from using the wrong oil, and running too hard. Ordered more parts from ali express. Been running better than ever for some time now.

Of the models on walmart, the $318 one is what should be the most expensive. Mine is one step down from that (no auto-off function) I believe the auto off relies on the gauge, which should not be trusted. I've upgraded the gauge on mine as the original stopped working after a few months.

This ebay seller provides a 5 year warranty. And folks on the Yong Heng Facebook group seem to be happy with the seller and his service. And they also confirmed the unit is in fact a REAL Yong Heng. A few folks have posted pics of units with a Dec 2020 manufactured date, so they are fresh off the boat.

Yep.... that's the one I purchased mine from.

I bought one a few days ago from Walmart. It is the one that says Yong Heng exclusive authorized high pressure 30MPa etc etc from Growthrill. It was $346 when I bought it but is now listed as $399. 4 year protection plan is $45. I didn't get the auto-cut off because the relay seems to be problematic for some people. I paid the extra $10 for faster shipping. It arrived in 3 or 4 days.

This is all helpful. I don't entirely trust my instinct but the eBay seller seems like a good option.

If I am just topping off my air guns, how much additional filtering and trapping do I need? I'd really rather not spend another $150 on a filter unit if I don't have to.

EDIT: Just worked my way back through these messages and see someone had some very detailed information about just these questions... thank you for that

Yes, scroll up and look at the pictures I posted. It has Yong Heng Air Pump painted on one side, the other side has a plated riveted on with additional information. I had heard the same that if it didn't have Yong Heng painted on the side it was a copy. Could just be the "stock" photos the seller is using. Did you purchase from the ebay seller homesupplies01? That's who I and others purchased from and received real Yong Hengs.
