target forge has a Infrared camera on a YH Plus on some past videos he shows his compressor with several temperature probes on it. The Temps are not excessive per se on a compressor but the tolerances are not consistent. 65c ish is a probably the safe max. The other issues seem to be oil bypassing rings, galling and improper procedure on the use of the compressor, for example starting compressor with high pressure in the pistons.
