Yong Heng question

I received a Yong Heng yesterday that I purchased from Best Homepro on Ebay. I have it all set up but I do have a question. I have read many times to not just flip the switch off when it reaches the desired PSI (mine is the manual shutoff version.) Everything i see says to bleed the pressure first then flip the switch. It's no big deal and I plan on doing that but what's the difference in just flipping the power button off versus it shutting down on it's own on one of the versions with the automatic shutdown? I would like to pump it up with a deadhead in the end of the fill whip and let it set for a few minutes to ensure there are no leaks. I don't know how to do that without just flipping the power switch off?? I'm just wanting to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. TIA for any suggestions.

Starting up with pressure is very hard on the compressor. Just stopping it is not a big deal, IF you then within a few minutes run it with both bleed screws open to get rid of most of the moisture build up. Keep the water pump on until the temp drops a lot no matter when the compressor is turned off.
Nothing likes to be turned off at its peak temperature.

I have the auto-shut off version by Tuxing, and it just shuts off like you threw the switch.
One thing I can think of is if the full voltage is going through the switch. With the full draw when the pump is running its hardest, I could see there could be some arcing on the switch contacts. That could wear it down over time. But thats only if the switch has the power running through it. I dont know if there is a relay in these or not.

Yep , the YH auto does have a relay and hopefully the switch version and the relay can handle the load. We do not hear many failures of switches or relays. That is except for the pressure gauge switch.

The only thing I can think of is when you just turn it off while pumping at max psi and with the HP piston at just the right spot it could stop the crank with a bit of shock and that could be hard on the rod and rod bearings/bushings. But the auto shut off model would experience that shock occasionally, so that makes the first assumption a maybe.
I’m curious of the reason.

i doubt you can hurt it, but my going method is to take both bleeds all the way out and let it run a minute before shutting down ..it pumps air and moisture out and purges everything .. id say just dont try to start it up with pressure in the lines .. putting a fan on it to keep the manifolds heat blown off is a good idea to ..
