I finally got my new compressor going thanks to Bowhunter73 sending me a relief valve collar. Yesterday I was finally able to shoot my hatsan flashpup until this mystery occurred in my compressor.
I filled my gun from dead empty the first time to 200 bar in less than ninety seconds. I thought that was impressive for a china compressor then I shot the gun until it was at 100 bar and I cranked the compressor back up once again and topped the gun off to 200 bar in no time flat to finish zeroing in my scope. Now I'm thinking we're finally rockin and rollin with this thing. I go back for the third top off and crank the compressor back up then realize the compressor is only pumping 20 bar on the gauge and it will not top my gun off.
Here's what I've done so far. I've checked for leaks and found none. I plugged my hose and run the compressor up to its max 20 bar and shut it off and it holds that 20 bar for hours with no leak down until I open the relief valves. Burst disc was good but I put a new one in anyway. I removed all check valves and they all are clean and look new. I removed head and cylinder. Pistons and rings are like new with no scoring or defects that can be seen. I cleaned all reed valves and checked all O rings. I checked every port and hose for obstructions and all were open. All lines are open and clean as well.
This compressor worked flawless for the first three minutes and then decided to take a dump right in the middle of some long awaited shooting. I always open the relief valves before start up and before I cut it off. The compressor has never gotten over 97 degrees due to my cooling system so heat didn't play a part in this.
I've been a heavy equipment mechanic with my own service truck for 30 years and this little rascal has got me stumped.
