My 2019 first failure on Yong Heng. New auto shutoff gauge was $24 on the bay.

I’m still using the Seco Lube 500 however I wrote Lawrence Factor asking for guidance on why this oil turns black after an hour of runtime and if this is a real issue from detonation or other. Curiosity kills me every time.

My YH gauge conked out too, just short of three years. Since I don't use set pressure function, borrowed a liquid-filled gauge from my Chinese HPA handpump, screwed right in, works great. Changed to SecoLube 500 in November, clear as just from container when inspected last night. What temperatures are you experiencing during typical operation? WM

Hey WM, I didn't have any gauges that were bottom sealed, just some old NPT paintball stuff. I could have ordered a non set point one for $15.

I sit around 52-55C depending on water temp. Several others, from a previous post, have the same issue. One poster suggested run oil through a coffee filter, nope, no wrk. My favorite internet oil, RP, used to turn black as well. Maybe my second stage is already in the "toast" range or i'm seeing steel rings on aluminum?

Thing still makes good pressure so maybe things will change after first top end rebuild.

Never had a problem with oil getting dark after first hour break-in oil change. Some machines might have more internal build residue than others, guess I was lucky. Your temps are good, I rarely break 50 degrees C, pre-chill room temp compressor to 18s-degree C, and allow compressor to cool back down to 18s before filling next gun. Replace ice bottles as needed while keeping water pump and external fan running all fill session till everything cool to touch. Not sure if this is why oil stays clear or just have clean internals. Yep, standard practice with the water and all. Also using Redline to help with internal aluminum corrosion using distilled water. LoL, clean internals? Well during any oil change, cars or pumps, I look for any fine metallic bits. The question remains while several users get black oil, over time. Me, not going to sweat it other than stupid shipping cost for oil each year for three changes of oil. If anything changes, keep in touch. Thx

Black usually means aluminum oxide.
Like steel piston rings on aluminum cylinder? Retired now but would love to send a $ample off thru work, standard checks on our Rexroth pumps in the office onshore. Nothing but crickets from Lawrence Factor...so may switch up with Rarus 427 this summer when SecoLube runs out. thx
