Yong Heng disassembly, removing stainless fitting

I am attempting to check on my 3yr old yong heng piston condition as it is struggling to get past 4000psi.

However the compression fittings on the stainless lines between stages are seized in,

I've slackened them but the compressed ferrules seem really stuck in,

tapping them doesnt seem to help and I dont want to ding or bend the stainless pipes.

I've just sprayed some oil to see if it will penetrate and loosen.

Any suggestions ?

thx

I know the feeling! I went through the same thing with mine. It is a lot harder than it should be and also tougher than I would have thought. They are (for this sport) relatively inexpensive so I bought a spare unit after I finished; just in case I do break it next time. My advice is to get comfortable wrenching it. Watch Jorge Spreve's (slingshot channel) video. He does a deep belly laugh and just wrenches away. He is pretty funny to watch and very clever too. Good luck!

thanks, the tapping with a screwdriver on the ferrule lip worked.

My hp rubber piston rings pretty worn, gonna try changing them even though I hard ordered a new piston and gaskets a while back thinking that my unit was older model with weak piston but it doesnt look so.

I will have to use the new gaskets as they got torn removing piston.

Is boiling water the recommended way to soften the rubber hp piston rings ?

The compression ferrule has a lip on it & if you can get a smaller flat blade screwdriver on it at an angle without hitting threads, you can give it a light tap with rubber mallet & will usually separate. If not, order complete line with fittings & replace.

I changed the rings even though I have a spare piston and gaskets.

Used the boiling water method to try and soften them.

I might have stretched the gaskets a bit as they fit real tight and took some care to get into the high side piston.

Ran it for a few mins and it did run a bit hotter than normal but building pressure good.

Will do some break in runs to get them to wear in a bit.
