Yong Heng Compressor up to 4500 ps1

Guys, I am looking to purchase a Yong Heng compressor to top off my Scba tank to at least 4000 psi as well as my AV 100 cu in. tank to same. In looking at the video's and reviews, it was noted that to fill to that pressure, it needed to be capable to 310 bar.Everything I see advertised, shows them at 300 bar.Is this sufficient to fill to that capacity I am looking for? Will 300 bar do the trick without damaging the compressor? Any thoughts from you experienced guys will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have blown several burst discs trying to get close to 4500psi and letting the system shut off without bleeding it down. I now just fill to 4200psi and always bleed the system down before shutdown. Since this practice has been observed I have not blown any burst discs. Like the above comment I see no reason to subject the unit to higher than rated pressures. I find that a 4200psi fill on my tanks is plenty for my needs. Remember that the gauges on these things are cheap and all but one of mine have been off by a couple to several of hundred psi.

Like the other posters here, I do not subject my yong heng or my scba tank [which is out of date] to more than 4200psi. You can always add more air but replacing equipment or body parts is a less desirable outcome.

I also second the comment to have the bleed valves open before shutting it down [also open the bleed valves frequently when filling to let out moisture]. This is why the auto-shutoff model makes no sense, you can save a few bucks getting the standard model.

Auto shutoff is great for those who might space out while filling. Like me. ;^) Oh, and yes I do have brain damage.

If you put a one way relief valve in the line between the compressor and the tank you can bleed down the compressor, and maintain pressure in the rest of the system

This allows filling the tank in stages by bleeding the YH, shutting it down, & letting it cool ( keep water pump flowing) along the way.

Mine is installed between the compressor & the water filters

Here's the one I bought; but by all means shop for quality & price

Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for your comments and operating tips. They all make very good sense.

You're welcome, Richard

BTW

I am considering buying another valve & experiment with installing it in the reverse direction, between the water filter & the bottle that is to be filled.

This should allow taking the pressure off the bottle so that a new bottle can be connected & filled without losing pressure in the line.

Of course using the bleed valve on the compressor end to give the YH a break, also

This (there's that word again) should leave all of the volume of the water filter(s) pressurized

The issue I see with this (and all filling connections for that matter) is the poor quality control on female quick fill fittings.

I seem to have one malfunction every few weeks.

That coupled with male fosters machined to vastly different standards have become the bane of my PCP existence.
