Sorry, that came out wrong. I don't use a tank, have nothing against them. I have two gun ranges in my backyard and some woods to hunt, so no need for tank. Would get one if needed.

Don't want to disparage any manufacturer unfairly, I've a Hatsan pistol that I'm not impressed with. Followed this forum for a year and don't often hear great and glowing reports regarding Hatsan, but some may feel differently. Post your Hatsan thread and judge replies for yourself, who knows, might be perfect fit for you. WM

You'll find a LOT of conflicting opinions here! My AT44 was my favorite pcp (til I jumped up in price & quality). It outshot & "out-quieted" my Marauder (which I had high hopes for) both in .22. Much preferred the side lever to the Mrod's bolt. We ALL have to start somewhere & in my mind you could do worse than the AT44 (I'm assuming you got the side lever as opposed to the pump). no worries, it just seemed that you said that getting a tank was a bad idea. lol I now see that's not what you meant. My thinking is that this will not be my only pcp airgun and with a tank I could fill multiple guns as needed and run the compressor to top off my tank. So far I don't have any pcp guns. I have 2 co2 guns that were modded for me by biohazardman from the old Crosman forums about 16 years ago. (I don't know if its the same biohazardman that's on this forum but I believe it is). then recently purchased an inexpensive spring piston break barrel. I looked at soo many videos and reviews and came up with the Hatsan AT44 in .22. I'm choosing 22 because I can use the same pellets as I currently use and have thousands of and I really like the look of that rifle and has iron sights, meaning I don't have to purchase a scope right away. I'm not planning on hunting anything that the 22 cant take down. there are other that I like but cant yet justify to myself their cost. I know it starts with one and then spirals out of control. Forgot to mention it will be the side lever.

Well, you see what Gerry52 said, Hatsan AT44 was his favorite, that sounds like a good reference, to me. You've done your homework, so, go for it. My first was a $300 Umarex Gauntlet .25. Everybody said get the Benjamin Marauder, but I wanted a regulated airgun. Used a $50 Chinese eBay handpump to fill, but ended up adding unwanted moisture to the system. Still have it, yeah, it's long and heavy, gulps air like crazy, but shoots like a laser.

I've heard Biohazardman talk of a $1,000 mod he did on a Crosman, so must be same guy. He's well thought of here. Best of Luck, WM
