Yong Heng compressor- 3000 psi max?

Is this psi correct? I thought it would be higher.

No, that is just the cheap gauge. The YH is supposed to handle 4500 psi, and burst disk around 5k.

I've heard the burst disk lets go right around 4200-4500, so I've always been wary to go much more past 4100? I'd love to be able to put 4500 into my SCBA tanks but I don't hear a lot of good stories about people who do that.

Thank you JimNM. Any source for the correct gauge? Or will the cheap gauge be adequate?

What you have installed is the correct gauge. It's the same as mine. It works fine. Up to you if you want to drop the $$ on something else.

O believe you are ok with that gauge. You have the simple model, so you will have to keep an eye on the gauge.

In my case, I hooked up my tank that has a fat juicy 3" gauge, ran the YH against the closed tank until I reached my comfort pressure. 4200 psi, then shut off the YH off and marked the glass on the pump gauge where the needle was. Hint, the YH gauge was nowhere close to the pressure that the tank gauge showed.

I repeated the process for 250 bar (3600-ish psi, 200 bar 3000 psi). Now my guns and tank have their own dedicated stop points for the YH pump.

I must be in the minority. Mine is four years old and the original gauge is still working and accurate. Just because the red zone on the gauge starts at 3000 psi doesn't mean that you shouldn't exceed that. If that was the case then the auto-stop versions wouldn't allow pressures any higher. Nearly all the advertising specs list max pressure of 4500 psi or 300 bar. I know that they are slightly different but they are in the same ballpark. Some people push them a lot higher without apparent problems.

A burst disc is easy to change-not a reason to avoid higher fill pressures. I top off a Great White tank to 4400 regularly (for over 3 years now) with a Yong Heng and have never blown a burst disc. Will one last longer if fill pressures are limited to 4200 or lower? Possibly.
