Yet another Yong Heng question

All depends on water flow and temperature. Some guys use ice in the water. Also volume to cooling water makes a difference. A large tank will run cooler, longer than a small tank. The water is transporting heat from the air pump and holding it until the water transfers the heat to the air surrounding the water.

The longer you run, the more vapor will build up in the water trap. If you are running more than a gun fill, you should drain the water trap. It adds a little more time, but helps to keep your tank and gun dry.

I limit my fills to 15 to 20 minutes as the temperature on the gauge only shows head temperature and other parts of the pump can overheat if it is run too much longer. Some have added cooling as well as ice to their Yong Hengs and run them a bit longer.

Depending on the environment of the compressor I would expect a good cool down time of 20 to 30 minutes.

I believe that how often to bleed off moisture is very much situation dependent, based on one's location and environment. I see recommendations from every couple of minutes to anything less than 10 minutes is a waste of air. With my YH, if I wait until 10 minutes I get large amounts of moisture and it often takes two cracks of each bleeder to get it all out and that doesn't seem to be conserving air. At 2 or 3 minutes there is usually nothing released from either bleeder. Somewhere around 5 to 7 minutes with very quick small opening of each bleeder serves me well most of the time.

I don't know that a 15 minute fill interval limit is necessary but it sure couldn't hurt. Seems with good cooling that only the motor should overheat and that is possible. Luckily for most these small compressors do fill pretty fast. A top off for my large Great White tank from around 3600 to 4500 only takes about 11 minutes and I would guess it would do 3000 to 4500 in around 15 minutes.

+1 to this recommendation. Bleeding the moisture traps every 2 minutes makes the compressor work much harder than necessary. Every time the bleed valves are used the compressor must repressurize itself and the air lines. Five to seven minute intervals is more than sufficient and kinder to your compressor.
