Picked this .177 up as a refurbished unit from Field Supply for $199.90 about a week ago. Cleaned up the typical rough spots like the trigger,bolt ect.Cleaned the barrel w/JB bore paste,followed by Flitz then Ballistol. Polished the crown and added a slight bevel to the breech to facilitate easier loading. Decreased the valve retainer from .601 to .493" on the hammer side to increase dwell time and poppet travel. Polished the hammer while I was "Elbow deep in the neckbone pot." as well. Running a Bushnell Banner 6-24X40 AO. Also made a doo-dad that attaches to the rear swivel stud for bench rest duty.

On order are a set of Hajimoto's baffles and air stripper as well as a 380cc bottle. I fiddled with the stock air stripper and added a vent hole to the rear of the shroud. Needed a bit more rise from the cheek rest so I modified that,as well.

This has been the best bang for the buck since my P17! More than Happy,so far!

Groups are each 5 shots at 35 yds with JSB 10.34's. The chrony reading is a 10 shot average with aforementioned pellet

I also added a bipod/swivel stud with a stopper to eliminate shroud to barrel contact,not the greatest pic but hopefully it shows what I came up with. I may still tweak the velocity depending on how the pellets behave at greater range. No biggie...as I'm having FUN!

I'm very happy with mine. I have done much of the same to mine as you have. Larger bottle and set shot pressure to 1300psi. 70 regulated shoots on a fill, 36yrd 15.98 jsbs 3/8" Groups. Soon as the first frost I'm going to ware the squirws out in my back woods. lol I did install a Jefferson state hammer adjuster.

What was the condition when it arrived? Could you shoot it before all the cleaning, polishing, and such, if so, how did it shoot?

I have to say they were horrible (New guns out of the box). The worst triggers I have ever felt.

Have both 177 and 22 and maybe I got lucky in the accuracy dept? IDK? Do they all do this well?

After trigger mods and smoothening out the bolts and adding barrel bands both consistently do sub 1/2 at 50. I think they could do a lot better if they had Marauder type triggers.

The 177 is a hair more accurate with sorted 10.3JSBs at 50 1/4-3/8. Average just under 3/8 using the mags. Have to concentrate and cock it well and deliberately all the way between shots.

If you don't sort the JSBs you will throw a flier once in a while. Weigh them and measure head sizes.

They are just too heavy to go out hunting in the field and make good bench rifles.

It had a couple slight scuffs on the stock but overall was quite good. I ran about 60 shots through it with a UTG 3-12X40AO on top(After cleaning the barrel with a few Ballistol soaked patches...Quite dirty.). I used various pellets such as CPLHP and CP Ultra mags(10.5) AA 8.44's and JSB 10.34's,H&N Barracudas and Hunter Extremes along with others. The trigger action was rather crude,as was the cocking (Not very heavy,just gritty/new out of the box kind of rough.) It was immediately grouping quite well at 30 yds with occasional fliers. Definitely usable as delivered.The velocity with the JSB Heavies (which it seemed to like) was around 850 fps,if memory serves me right.I filled it to 3000 psi and let it sit for a day to check for leaks...there were/are none.

It was at this point I began to "clean things up." This was in my plans from square one as I had watched plenty of videos and read quite a bit about how well these rifles respond to a little "tlc".

I would strongly recommend getting the $35 Hajimoto barrel band to eliminate any possibility of POI shift and fliers.

It is sort of the P17 of pre-charged.

Had a .22 good to go out of the box ( I always clean a "new" barrel so I dont consider having to clean one some factory issue ) and a used .177, excellent. I didn't need to but I did change from 900psi to 1,100psi and adjusted - but no polishing/other- the trigger.

Excellent groups and no poa/poi shift.

These rigs are a crazy good value and plenty of air on deck for 50fpe for those that need mo power. Crosman really should have tried harder to get in front of this model.

John, I Totally agree on the "Value" aspect. When these came out,I thought they were ugly as Hell! (Maybe they still are...but the look has really grown on me. Then again,we have a pet possum and Love him! But thats a whole 'nother story...)

I have already decided to get one in .22 down the line to see what I can wring out of That power and accuracy wise. Part of the appeal,aside from the fun of the tweaking process,is that they can be taken out in the woods,dirt and thorn bushes without fear of ruining a beautiful stock...ect. I'm curious as to how the .25 will perform when it shows up ( Larger bottle and .30/.35 conversion?? Muah Ha HA HAAA!!)

Thanks for the info. There have been some threads about how rough the cocking and trigger are out of the box, as well as general QC issues. Sounds like the guns do work out of the box, you need to plan on cleaning, probably some disassembly and lubrication along the way. For $200, if you want to tinker, good value.
