Yes, Hades DO Expand!

Keep'em coming, the tests.

One complication is always that if the HP hits bone we really don't know what made it expand — the impact on regular tissue (guaranteed for every hit) — or hitting a bone (just a lucky shot)....

Definitely. But if you look at the left one, it looks like it hit bone really good. Now, the one on the right is definitely a flesh impact, wish I would have taken a picture prior to cleaning. There was a lot of torn flesh on it that I cleaned up. Those channels I believe make a good difference even without the expansion, albeit it did expand somewhat as well.

22 hades is the only hades I’ve seen expansion with.

Here’s one in .177, not too shabby if you ask me. Will be interesting to see what the new .30s do.

that looks like it hit a bone. I tested hades in 177, 22 and 25, only hades expanded in soft tissue is the 22. Not to say they aren’t effective, infact I believe they are extremely effective even without expansion but the 22 is the only one I seen would expand in soft tissue.

Yeah! For sure. My thoughts exactly. I do have a .25 but due to how powerful it is I haven’t tested much. 99.9% of my shooting is at home.

same here, all my pesting is in my yard and I ran out of squirrels long ago. The .25 hades are absolutely devastating even at 600FPS. The exit wounds are huge and they usually DRT even with a not so great shot. Now my impact is pretty much in the case and only gets out to ply around with slugs when I go out to punch paper. At home it’s 100% 177 guns and I love it! I event think 22 is too powerful, heck i even think 12FPE 177 is too much power. My go to pesting gun is the 1720 at 7 FPE and it does a fine job because it’s a freaking laser beam.

Yes sir! I rarely touch the PT .25, but if really wanted to, I can tune it way down and it'd be a super accurate lobber. I do shoot the .22s, but use as much judgement as I can and my current tune is about 22fpe? something like that. That .177 Hades pictured above came out of a 12fpe HW95 at about 27 yards and basically pierced a squirrel all the way front shoulder and stoped just short of exiting out it's hind quarter near the tail. For the smaller pests, my go to guns are the HW30 & R7 (I know, same gun, I have 2, don't judge)

Distance 28 yards, Speed 259mps or 849fps.

nice!!!! That’s the same expansion I saw in soft tissues too! It’s devastating! IMHO 22 hades has no peers with the expansion and accuracy(in just about every gun) combined. They also seem to tumble with the “cutouts” grab whatever it hits, it’s crazy how much damage hades do.

Thanks!

After the gory facts, I always like to see some hard facts, like a measurement of the expanded head...!

To interpret the expansion correctly we probably would want the impact velocity — so if you give us range and muzzle velocity that will be a great help.

830 FPS, hitting a 2 inch diameter apple at 20 yards. I’ve recovered .22 hades from squirrels that looked the same but can’t find the pictures.

still expands considerably hitting a small Apple at 700FPS!
