Yep...I got sucked in

I have owned springers/gas rams all my life. For over 45 years I've had Beemans, FWB's, Weihrauch's, Theobens, etc. (I still have my Theoben SLR98 and my Weihrauch HW55M). I just got my first PCP. A Taipan Veteran (.22 standard with Coffee laminate stock). Nice airgun.

Then I started down the path of no return. Had to buy all the stuff that you need to go shooting a PCP. Scope, rings, scope caps, Tank, filling station, etc. I have Lewis @Lewis and Russell @RM100Guy to thank for all this. My "good buddies". Now I have to learn how to work on these PCP's...hopefully I won't need to for a long time.

Got sucked in years ago also. Found myself not using them. 3 shots in the same hole and was bored with it. O-rings started to go bad and they needed rebuilding with hardly any use. Almost all gone now. A springer and a tin of pellets. Done. Hope you enjoy yours more than I did. So many do. Happy trails.

To say they are the same as they were "years" ago with this statement is sad :(

Misspoke, sorry. They are phenomenal airguns. Accuracy is off the charts. That’s how I got hooked. I just bought to many to quickly and found myself bored with shooting them when the spending stopped. Just a poor attempt to head off someone in making the same mistake. And even with the newer technology they still rely on O-rings. Some, very few and easy to install. I would highly recommend searching these out before buying. The O-rings just don’t last very long. I work on all my airguns and some of these foreign PCP’s are loaded with metric O-rings that are difficult to find and replace. Thank you for pointing my poorly worded post out.

I can concur with this statement, its why ive not bought any dual regulated guns yet, although I do WANT one. I will say as far as what everyone says about the Taipans... he looks to be in great shape with his first purchase!

There is an old saying "in for a penny, in for a pound"! You started at or near the top of the"food chain" my friend with the Veteran...think of the HOURS if not days we have talked about your PCP future...I will go on record about a few things, one being, your going love your Veteran and you won't be spending a lot of time (if any) working on it...your not the first to receive my endorsement concerning Taipan Veteran air rifles...(Greenarrow comes to mind). So now we have come down to shooting and your honest assessment of this platform, we will be waiting for your reviews..and targets...time to ENJOY the fruits of your research my friend!

BTW;

Improving each day from my stroke, texting/typing still a little difficult, good news is that my trigger finger wasn't effected!!!

You got sucked in to the best.. I also have a standard in 22. And it’s a phenomenal air gun. Plus they hold their value. Congrats!

PS.. don't worry about the O rings like the previous poster mentioned. Ive had mine apart adjusting the reg before, and its really no big deal, these are simple designs. Plus they can be purchased online for cheap. Just enjoy and shoot!

I am glad that you are recovering my friend. I hope you know that I was posting in a half joking manner about getting sucked in. As soon as I get my tank checked out and get it filled I will do some shooting. I like the overall quality of the Vet and the feel of it so far. There is some second stage creep in the trigger but I'm not messing with it until I get a few hundred rounds through it. Trigger looks easy to adjust.

Enjoy!

Many thanks!

Welcome to the Dark side! Glad you could finally make it. A wonderful place to be it is. But do try to see that you climb out of the money pit long enough to get some air every now and then. ;^)

And always remember we are here to help you spend your money. ;^)

Nice gun by the way.

Thank you sir.

Agreed on o-ring worry. You can get a pack of 100 of any size you need and more from The ORing store.

I've only had one rifle which kept popping o-rings and don't have that any longer. All my other PCPs have been excellent holding air. For the most part, the only time I've had to replace an o-ring is when I knicked one taking down an airgun.

Thanks for your perspective.

Thanks for your follow-up comments. It remains to be seen as to how I like shooting it. Seems to be a fine airgun.

Actually the OP’s Taipan is no different mechanically than the one I purchased in 2017. So yes, it is sad that they are the same as they were “years” ago but it speaks volumes that they can’t improve the platform. There are a boatload of guns that haven’t changed in years.
