Yep, Another GX CS4/I thread. Just something I tried.

I now have over 91 hours on the GX CS4-I mostly from from chrono-tuning work for me and my friends.

I have always let it run with the check valve out when it would slow down with a dead head test if it went over maybe 32-33 seconds which has always brought it out of the slower times.

I noticed earlier that it was still doing a fill after I had to go run some stuff, and it was on a 580CC plus 60cc airgun - empty to full fill and that seemed a bit long so a deadhead test showed 36 seconds.

I went ahead and let it run with the check valve removed and when I came back hours later, it was still over 35 seconds.

I know these come with a service kit but I noticed the cylinder heads are available for pre order so I almost put some money down when I decided to do something I haven't before but had thought about.
I ran it with the CV out , and the compressor upside down.
I checked to see if the water was moving and it seemed to be even though there wasn't a load and it would not get hot.

I ran it that way upside down, for about a half hour and decided to see if anything changed in the DH test
It went from 35 plus seconds to to twenty eight (28) seconds on the dead head test to 300 bar.
I did several more test and all were 28 seconds give or take a few tenths of a second.

There wasn't even very much of anything coming out of the CV but a very tiny bit of grease after the upside down run.

I think the grease must have traveled more to where it needed to be with it in the inverted position while running.

Just a tip for those maybe thinking about buying something expensive when the pump slows down and you're too lazy to do a rebuild like I am.
