Taking my son to try a XFT match this weekend. Never done this before. Says targets will be between 20 and 100 yards. What’s the best zero to use for this sort of thing? We plink at 50 and 100 right now and have a 50 yard zero and just hold at 100.

I know a lot of shooters use 50 but I’ve never been a fan of hold under.
Using ChairGun Elite ballistic app my flatest trajectory for the two rifles I’ve used is 35 yards.
And I click my ranges.

My far zero is about 30y. 25-35 are all pretty much the same. But that's less important than knowing your dope very well.
XFT where we do it involves needing to know how to hit any distance between 20 and 105, so I would prioritize working out drops for a variety of ranges. Some pellets follow the ballistic calculations very closely, others not so much. So getting real-world dope at as many yardages as possible is best.
