Wrapping up my review series on the Benjamin NP2

You may remember my previous videos. I finally put a bunch more rounds through it and wrapped up the review series.

Mine doesn't seem to be a one-hole 20 yard shooter, nor capable of head shots on squirrels at 30 yards like some of yours are. Some of it is me, I'm sure, but without further mods, I wouldn't try a head shot on a nutter at 30 yards with it. I'd be just as likely to snout him, or punch his ears.

But it is accurate enough for squirrels are bigger birds (chest shots) at 20-30 yards.

Here are the videos I did on it awhile ago:

It's a fun one to shoot. Gets me out of the PCP rut. Somehow, I feel more involved in the whole process, because I'm directly making the power before each shot. It's got maybe 1,000 rounds through it now, and seems to be more accurate now than ever. I hope it finishes breaking in before the barrel pivot washers wear out, hehehe. I'm thinking when they do, I may fabricate new ones out of aluminum pop can instead of sanding down brass washers. (which is a lot of darned work)

I have mixed feelings about the gun. One one hand, it is nowhere near as accurate or consistent or nicely-built as my Euro springers. On the other hand, it has that awesome suppressor and gas piston powerplant, which can't be touched in a Euro springer for under $600. If I were to replace it with anything, it would probably be something like an HW95 with an added suppressor.

I had an older thread with chrony data; this one's shooting at about 23 FPE. I have a buddy and his is shooting at 16 FPE, he's got a bad piston, I think.

Thanks for looking.

G'day Smaug, I enjoyed your vids, thank you. I was thinking about your experience with your NP2 as far as the recoil, accuracy and hold sensitivity. As you may recall I have two Trails in 177 and 22 cal. I replaced the gas ram in the 22 with a gas ram from a gammo one. The Trail gas ram was rated at 55 kilos and I recall the gammo one was rated at 50 kilos. What this did was to reduce the recoil, noise level and hold sensitivity.
I now have a 22 cal Trail that is very accurate, and on par with my Walther LGV. As far as power reduction it now sits on 710 fps with 14.65 grain pellets and I'm more than happy with this.
Anyway just some info for you. By the way it's a great afternoon here in Queensland and the Bundaberg rum is going down well.

"Deja"yea good stuff, too bad they fall under the same blanket as gamo. Is it really that hard to make a good semi powerful gas piston air gun?
looks like it is.
Actually, for a while Crosman had a low powered version of the Titan, don't know if you could find any lying around someplace or get a replacement gas ram for that gun. It sold poorly because the intended buyers only looked a the FPS numbers. I got a Titan refurb for a neighbor and it shot very well at first, but something happened to the barrel pivo and washers after about a tin of pellets. I replaced the plastic washers with brass, but it was never very accurate afterwards. I don't know if the barrel pivot has been upgraded on the later models, but I personally will not buy any Crosman/Benjamin breakbarrels or recommend them to new shooters.
