Would you laugh or be upset?

I’m at weekend flea market. I see a good looking 44cf CF Scott cylinder, in MSA case, full harness, mask, respirator. I ask how much. $75.00 I’m told.

I ask year as I’m looking for it and he says 2008. At this point is when I see a 11/32” hole drilled directly through one side next to last hydro date sticker of 2008.

I inform him it’s been rendered obsolete and maybe worth $75 for parts, display, but not what I need it for. I’m not arguing price, haggling, etc. Guy tried to tell me that’s a safety valve hole. I was rendered speechless. I figured nobody can hurt themselves and worst is someone looses money if they’d planned on using it. Guy had a, shut up & get away from my stand attitude before I loose a sale. I was obviously thorough but if I had bought it? I’d be pretty mad.
Some people have no business selling certain things & what’s scary is his main items are powder burners. I’ve gotten some great old Weavers off him and auction sites say I robbed him so I don’t know.
I just found it funny he was still trying to sell it to me as a perfectly good SCBA cylinder.

EDIT: Thanks to all, & Centercut. He shared a great deal on used 88’s in hydro. Since my 44cf Interspiro turned 15 years old in September I’m scared to death when filling with my AlkinW31E. I’ve never seen a compressor actually make the tank gauge move. I’m only filling to 4K from 2200 in under 3 minutes & that’s empty canister, no pressure at all, as I drain her & run wide open no load for a cool down & blow out ALL moisture.
