Would I Regret It?

I am thinking about selling my athlon argos btr gen2 6-24. Yes the bang for the buck is great warranty great, but the weight is up there. Looking at the new offering from vector the veyron 4-16 and 6-24 offer alot as well but in a more lightweight package. Is it silly to sell just to save weight 20.6oz 11.7" vs 30.3oz 14.1".

If optical clarity is the same between both, then I don't think you'll regret it. Usually, shorter scopes with a higher magnification range give up certain aspects such as depth of field, eye box, and sensitive parallax adjustments versus longer body designs unless you delve into the higher tier optics. What's more important to you?

it would be silly if it only shoots off a bench with a bipod ... if it regularly sees action around back by the chicken coop thats a different story, you dont really want a 2 foot long sniper wannabe dumbo optic to lug around ....

One of the things I look for is the weight of a scope,,saving10oz is a lot and worth it to me...

You would only regret it if you can not afford it....I find Leupold scopes are usually of lighter weight and better optics.

Not sure I understand why a few ounces would make that big a difference! Physics show that extra weigh slows down movement, good quality glass should be first choice. All the crap in my pockets weigh more than 10 oz... if weight is that critical, why not shoot naked?? Lol....

After having used the Athlon Helos 6×24, and liking it for what it is, I am liking the smaller scopes for their footprint. They have all the features that the big long scopes have, for the most part, but in a smaller package. I went in this direction because I didn't want a huge scope being jarred around at the shot and to save weight on the heavy big bore.

I concur. Less is more, especially when you are walking around. Save the heavy scopes for the bench.
