Two comments. First how the heck did you get within 10 yards of a groundhog? You are must be one sneaky dude . Or you are able to sit motionless for a long long time. I'm as impressed with that as I am the shots you made. Secondly as far as feeding ground hog to the homeless. Good luck with that. First if they are homeless they have no place to cook and secondly unless you can convince them the chicken has four legs I doubt many will be "takers".
No desire to get into a debate about the rightness or wrongness of it but groundhog is not on very many peoples menu. I leave them for the eagles, buzzards and coyotes. They appreciate them too. Same with the pigeons the barn cats love me.
