Woodchuck opportunity!

Short story for you all.

So I'm on the way to the farm properties this morning to hunt crows being that the summer season just started yesterday. I brought the air rifle of course to use on pigeons and woodchucks should the crow activity slow down.

I stopped at a gas station on the way to pick up snacks and drinks for the day like I usually do, and I recognized the girl who worked at a different gas station about 6 years ago and I had not seen her since then.

So we chatted for a bit and she asked me what I had been up to so I told her about my two part-time jobs and that I was currently on the way to Some Farms to shoot crows and I also told her about all the other pests birds and animals I shoot.

She told me that her yard and parents yard across the street from her are overrun with woodchucks...... She said that everybody who lives on her Road has a woodchuck problem in their yard. She has been live trapping them and bringing them to an old grass strip airport a short distance from her but she thinks they just come right back to her yard.

I asked her if she wanted me to come over and shoot them and she said yes!! So I gave her my number and asked her to text me if she wanted me to come over this evening.

So hopefully I will get a message from her later and I can leave the Farms early and get a couple of hours of shooting woodchucks on the way home. Where this girl lives is almost exactly halfway between my house and the Farms.

I will let you all know if this pans out!

She hasn't messaged me yet but she was working midnight shift and is probably sleeping. I got 13 crows this morning but only recovered 12. And I've been hammering the pigeons and starlings for the last couple of hours.

Nice! I had a similar experience. We have seriously diminished the ground squirrel population in our normal field. So I took to the phones. The local wineries had receptionists who were clueless as to whether they had a ground squirrel problem or not. But when I called a farm the owner picked up and said she had! She asked me how much I charged and I said a couple of cold ginger ales at the end of the day. She laughed and thought she could manage that. So this Sunday should be great because it’s all flat with low grass that my new stand should be put through its paces. When I met her I could see them all standing around, all the while I’m thinking wait till Sunday!!!
