Wolverine trigger weight

It is somewhat normal as far as I found out with mine. The thing I did to correct was to de-warranty it by taking the trigger apart and polishing everything that touches or rubs. It was a while back and if I recall, I also changed a spring, but I can't describe which one exactly. I think it had to do with one that fights the pull.
I then carefully cocked the gun and proceeded to bounce it around to make absolutely sure it did not discharge. It held without going off.
This was the only way I could get my trigger the way I wanted it. I took out all the take up so it is ready to fire without any slack or creep. It has worked this way for about 4 years without fail.

The trigger adjustment is tricky. The adjustment described as the weight adjustment is actually the sear engagement setting, but it does affect the release weight. Unless you want to experiment with polishing parts and trying different springs, all you can do is set the engagement as shallow as safety allows. The design they use with the locking grub screw makes this difficult, because when you snug it down to lock the adjustment screw, it may also turn the adjustment screw a bit, which might then be unsafe, or even leaving it unable to cock. With my Revere, I set the adjustment where I wanted, but then, rather than locking it with the grub screw, I used a small amount of low-strength thread locking compound, which avoided the risk of additionally moving the adjustment screw. It has been totally safe and reliable. I believe the release weight is about 7 ounces. Since this is using the adjustment at the very extreme of its range, the results are going to vary with individual rifles, and very small differences in final polish and springs will determine the lightest setting that is safely feasible. I was prepared to disassemble mine and work on it, but luckily I got an acceptable setting without that need.

My recently purchased Wolverine R measured 1lb 5 oz out of the box. Adjusted to ~7 oz but it would fire if cocked or bounced about with significant force. Adjusted to 11 oz & it held. Having already tried some adjustments, you probably know this but worth mentioning- a little bit goes a long, long way with that adjustment screw. The amount of movement it took to go from 7 oz to 11 oz was barely perceptible.
