When you put a scope on a springer and it comes with steel sights, do you take them off?

And if you do take them off, do you just leave it with holes and v-groves

or do you fill the holes with something like set screws or caps? End of this barrel looks a little cheesy, with the v-grooves in it. Crow

I just leave my sights on.They don’t interfere with my scope when I look through it on my HW anyway. And maybe one day I might want to just use the iron sights and they will already be there.I had a .308 Bolt action One time that I took the sights off and just put set screws and they fit flush and gave it a much better look.I didn’t like those open sights on that gun anyway.

While not that great with open sights, I can still use them in a pinch so they stay on my rifles and get dialed in the best I can before I scope a rifle. There's a member here named SpiralGroove that makes delrin muzzle breaks that easily tap on with a rubber mallet and are easily removed later should you want your open sights back on if you're interested in doing something like that.

I have several guns with scopes mounted in see-through mounts so that I can use the open sights when desired. Probably not the best idea on a springer but might work on lower powered spring guns. Works great on some of my PCP's. As to screw holes, I have a few open and a few that I've put set screws in. Screws might keep trash out but overall it doesn't seem to make a big difference.
