Wish Hatsans weren't so heavy but no big deal.

I own more Hatsans than any other brand, mosty cost driven. A few of the smaller cal's bolt action are not so impressive but the Blitz's are.

I just wish they could reduce the overall weight by say..25%? I know that's a lot.. I've looked the rifle over but I don't know how they can. Now that I'm "Older" and messed up my right shoulder it's painful to shoot them unless I'm on a stand.

A few other of my rifles are not that much lighter but they do not cause my shoulder pain. I recently fell backwards off a ladder, hopefully at my ol age things will get back to "normal"?.

Still, it seems like Hatsan would at some point come up with a new "light weight" class of rifles just because they are known to be heavy compared to many other brands.

But I have my doubts, why fix something that isn't broken?

This the only one I own now. My list of complaints with it is near endless. But I did shorten the barrel by 10", and used a much lighter shroud for it. Long heavy barrel+long heavy shroud has a very significant leverage affect. Making the gun feel much heavier than it is. Now, it feels like it should. Does 880fps with 16gr AA pellets for 80 shots. Also made a 3d printed moderator that weighs almost nothing. Has a few cone baffles, some felt, and also has some very small vent ports thru the body by each baffle. The shround has an air brake inside as well that diverts pressure backwards. Shroud has tiny vents in the rear, too. All make the gun very quiet.

I've read a little about 3d printed mod's on this site but I just don't understand how that works?
Everyone is extremely careful about not saying the "F" word and just call it the alphabet of some sort to keep the "Beds" from checking this site out. Really? I'm not sure but my guess is that we can all try to hide something from them..which is ridiculous to say the least but what are they looking for on this most friendly site out there? None, well most all of us have nothing to be concerned about with our day to day airgun shooting.

Anyway...what's up with this 3d printing of moderators? I'm totally curious, not that I want to make one. I'll stick to DFL.

The general concept (which is smart) is to draw as little attention to something that could become a future issue. It's akin to having too much fun. Don't spoil a good thing. That type of scenario.

For 3d printing,You just print the baffles, and usually an attached side wall, then stick them in something. Some people 3d print the entire thing. 3d printers use various methods and various materials. Most common use PLA or ABS. Anyhow, they form very small layers slowly buidling up the structure of what you want to print.

Milled aluminum will always be stronger. Unless you have an eye wateringly expensive 3d printer that does metals. On my more powerful guns, I use huma mods.

My first ever PCP was a Flashpup in .22. Still love that gun. Accurate, tough and never a single issue with it.
