The Wisconsin Airgun Club had its season kickoff event on May 26 with 7 shooters participating in an informal EBR style 100 yard benchrest match. The event was held at the Trenier Outdoors facility in Sparta Wisconsin. Weather was a bit warm, but the breezes were light. Bill Dickerson took top honors with his .25 cal FX Impact. Bill Gautsch was a first time competitor using his .25 cal 10 year old BSA Lonestar and won the consolation event with the second highest score of the day. This is quite an achievement since the rest of us were shooting FXs, Daystates, and RAW rifles. Just goes to show that the nut behind the buttplate can excel with good marksmanship talents. Another noteworthy shooter was my grandson Michael, just back from finishing college at Iowa State. He used his .177 cal Discovery to rack up some really nice scores at that distance. Don’t give this guy a top notch rifle because he knows how to shoot. Thanks go to Jeff Reinert for hosting the event. Bill Dickerson is taking the reins of the club and thanks to him for his enthusiasm. It is hopeful that more Wisconsin airgunners will come out for future events.
