Winters Shooting Blues = Private Shooting Range

I've been really bummed about not being able to shoot after work, too dark, too cold, etc. My sportsman's club has a covered firing line but you are exposed to the cold and wind. Paying $20 and hour to shoot indoors at 25 yards and having to deal with noisy powder burners doesn't appeal. So I was resigning myself to a bleak winter for shooting. But, while walking Riley my Jack Russell at a local farm I pest at and is owned by friends. I'm looking at the hoop houses and a light goes on in this dim skull of mind. There's a hoop house at least 30 yards long sitting empty! So I asked if I might set up my steel trap in there and shoot my air rifles. Well, now I have a private range to shoot in. Went down today to break the place in and get a feel for shooting in the space. Settled in and shot a few groups. Am super stoked as I now have a place to shoot out of the winter weather.

Thank you gentlemen for the kind replies... I did get lucky. I have a little buddy heater that will keep me warm, mostly I’m happy to have a place to shoot out of the weather.

I like the hostage silhouette targets. Did you print them out yourself? Do you have a link? Looks like a game that could be played with your buddies involving speed and penalties.

Lol i like your thinking on those hostage targets, take out the hostage first so you can get a clear head shot at the bad guy enabling you to have cool head shot pics for friends lol.

That's nice setup. When I get bored I shoot in my basement, which is 23yds. Shot last night, while enjoying a cold brewed beverage in the warm. Lol.

Temps have warmed up around here so it’s not that bad to go to the range. So off I go to sight in a new scope on pb coyote rifle and while sitting there shooting this really nice piece of kit it dawned upon me, like getting hit upside the head with a 2x4, that I would rather be shooting my Taipan. There were 3 or 4 other guys there and I wish they were air gunners too especially the guy with the 338Lapua with a compensator. I’m digging your new private 30yd range.

I also have a little range set up in my basement, it's about 17 yards. Sure would be nice to have a longer range like this though, that's pretty nice!
