Volume 2 of the Winter Pest Control series starts off right where we left off in Volume 1... Squirrels! The abundance of these tree rats requires some population control efforts. The winter season will mostly keep these guys up high, but on nice days they will come down for some food. The feeder is an obvious hotspot as other food sources are scarce.

All the EDgun's got in on the action... even the "dispatcher", the EDgun Veles made an appearance. I've adjusted the tunes after more and more Raccoons are showing up. I've got the Leshiy in Sub 12ft/lb shooting .177 H&N Snipers. This is my rat machine, and gets in on some squirrels as well. Stay tuned for some in depth articles on this guy. I'm waiting for a few things to arrive, but will be going into detail about an alternative to Phil's "super tune" to fit a wide range of pest control needs all with the ultimate airgun... the EDgun Leshiy (and no cutting like "Silent Overkill").

The EDgun Leyla is setup shooting 34gr JSB MK2's at about 26ft/lbs. I'm getting about 60 shots from a 250bar fill. This guy gets in on all the action as it's the newest to the family... I tuned it up a bit to ensure a clean kill on some of these super tough Possums causing some issues with my dog. It's possum season, so thinning of the heard is a must.

Finally the EDgun Matador R5M Standard in .25 as well. I have this tuned to just under 700 ft/sec, or 35 ft/lbs with the JSB 34gr MK2's. I've actually never looked, but I think I get 70+ shots from a 250bar fill. I typically bring this guy out for the Raccoons. The ATN Quick Release mount allows me to swap this scope between all 3 in less than 60 seconds... inclusive of changing the profile within the ATN X Sight 4K Pro. You can see links for more information on it below the video.

I had the same thing happen to a squirrel one time as it did to that opossum. It fell flat on its face when I shot it but when I went to get it about an hour later it hopped up and took off running. Luckily I shot it again and stopped any suffering. I’m still amazed at all the critters around your place. It sure makes for some fun nights I bet. Nice shooting too and I’m jealous of your gun collection.

pound for pound, I think the squirrel is the toughest. The Possum has a pretty small kill shot area, and the rest is just fat or muscle. It's a super creepy critter. The tails look like an alligator.

Thanks for watching! I enjoyed your last video as well!

Cheers,

Tim

Thanks glad you enjoyed and I agree squirrels are tough critters. Opossums are one of those things that they’re so ugly they’re almost cute little critters lol. The one in my profile pic was in my buddies chicken coop. We went to shoot it one night and couldn’t bring ourselves to do it so we brought him in the garage and fed him nutter butter bars lol.

I've got one I won't shoot too... he knows the line (my dog) lol
