Winchester 425 backporch plinking

Winchester model 425 — Winchester’s branding of the model Diana 25 from the 1970s. There are many more Diana 25 air rifles, and just a few thousand that carry the Winchester name.

This model came in both .177 and .22 caliber, though all Winchesters were .22 caliber. That’s a large pellet for such a small powerplant, and you can expect velocities somewhere in the 400s with light- and medium-weight pellets. That sounds anemic to those who are accustomed to high velocities, but the fact is that these are accurate at close range and a lot of fun to shoot.

Today we backporch plink from 30 feet.

Thanks for sharing.
That’s a sweet looking air rifle.
This my Winchester 425. I’ve completely disassembled, cleaned and lubed. I did not replace the seals or any springs. It shoots good enough for my needs. Unfortunately it does not have the original plastic trigger. Someone made one out of a piece of metal.
But I do enjoy shooting it. That .22 packs a punch even at 400 FPS. I use mine for indoor pest control down in my basement. I’ve taken lots of mice. No rats yet.

Professor,

Thanks for another backyard plinking visit. That gun is good looking and the darker wood finish matches barrel color nicely. Your dog doesn't seem to get too excited by the plinking, guess he's used to it. That gun hit harder than I expected, bet it would do well on starlings and house sparrows. You must have one fine collection of vintage guns.
