HW/Weihrauch Williams sights - FP-GR fit issue

A note for those considering buying a Williams peep sight, and debating between the "high" and "low" models. (For the record: high sight = model "FP-AG," low sight = "FP-GR." The adjuster screws on both sights are available with either flush screw heads, or target knobs, which add "TK" to the model name - e.g., "FP-AG TK." Either will sit higher on a separate rail like a Diana, than on cut grooves like a Weihrauch.)

The FP-AG is the usual choice for springers - I've used them successfully on both rail and groove mounts for years. But some have noted issues getting it to go low enough on a rail-type mount. BUT NOTE - the current FP-GR can give fit problems. (Apologies for the odd pic below, which combines parts from different sights! The gun is an old BSF with a Diana-like separate sight rail and a REALLY low sight line.)

A = FP-AG sitting loosely on the gun's rail.
B = FP-GR base hard-mounted on the rail, with an older riser arm.
C = Loose older sight base, with the FP-GR riser arm.

The issue is that the current FP-GR's base and riser arm are much taller than the FP-AG's. They can hit wood, unless the stock is really narrow, which is why I had to mix'n'match parts on this rifle. The base just barely fits (and would not have worked at all on an HW). The riser arm was too tall for this gun and would be completely out of the question for an HW.

i think these sights have always been a bit of a crap shoot
people thing they can just buy them, and it will be happy shooting only to find out that they don't not work at all or do not match the front sight
for some like yourself you can work around it because you have a box of sights to play mix and match or just have the knowledge
for the person that buys a sight and goes, hell this won't work, they have a problem
and to be frank these sights have change over the years and get very confusing even to me
and one other thing with the Williams sights they are near impossible to take all the left cant out of them not matter how hard you try which i find troubling
thank for the post
