I just bought my first decent (I hope) airgun, a Gamo swarm fusion gen2 to be delivered in a couple of days. From browsing around I read that the included scope is not that great. I have a Leupold 2x7 scope I used to have on my old squirrel hunting 22. If I don't like the scope that comes with the airgun can I put the leupold on it? Does a scope for an airgun have to be specially made for them? Thanks

Your 2X7 Leupold should work fine. Not sure how close it will focus. If you get another scope just make sure it is springer rated. There are a lot out there for sale. Have fun, Scott

For PCPs, any scope will work.
For springers, the reverse recoil can mess up some scopes, especially the hotter shooting magnum springers.
Also, with a break barrel you have to make sure that the scope clears the breach, especially on the Gamo Swarm.
All that being said, I think you'll be fine with the Leupold 2 x 7 on your gun.

I would only recommend a Springer rated scope for Springers as said above...
I've trashed a few scopes, even Springer rated. That scope should be fine, and they have a great warranty if needed.

Thanks. How do you tell if it's springer rated? I never see any mention of that in descriptions.

When in doubt you can always contact the manufacturer. Most vortex do not say Springer rated, but they are and the warranty is excellent.
What scopes are you looking at that you are questioning?

I used to push Vortex but not anymore after experiencing 2 Vortex of different class levels exhibit poor QC recently.
First hand any Leupold and any Japan made scope would be my first choices.

I was looking at a couple of the Hawk scopes Cyclops had recommended on youtube. I can't invest a lot of money in this right now, Baby steps ya know. I'll probably play around with the open sights at first, but I'll want a scope before too long.

What's your price range?
Odoyle...I too suffered an issue with Vortex but the VIP warranty was fantastic.
Playing with the "open sights" can help you know if the gun is shooting well prior to getting a scope, and allow the gun to settle in..

I just got a UTG for cheap (thank you Wayne for the advice) and bang for buck I really like it!
My vortex have served me well (even the issue I had was solved by VIP warranty) leupold is always golden and still serves me well, even my sig whiskey3 asp scope is decent bang for buck...

About $150 tops. The Hawks were 110-120 range.

Didn't you watch Cyclops seriously dissing Vortex no matter VIP warranty? It's the recent negative since he bashed UTG scopes (totally GAY scopes remember?).

That's a great price. Where is that? I was looking at that one but wasn't too sure about the 32 size. Wouldn't a 40 or a 50 let in more light and be useful in low light situations? Besides just playing I want to shoot rats that come out right at dark.

They email you a heads up on deals.
The markup on scopes are as much as 5x -10x depending on brand so there's plenty of wiggle room.
You see it all the time scopes half price sales often if you pay attention not only from DVOR.
Might even see some more Element Optics there being slashed.
There's the Element Titan half price for $400 but one time deal done and gone.
