N/A Will a gas piston trash a scope like a springer?

Yup .. a hatsan and a gamo i got made short work out of one or 2 . 😉

Best play is a good name scope with a no question ask lifetime warranty.

Like the athlon talos i got. them 2 guns yet to make her spit her bit .. if one was to .. just send it in and they fix or replace it .. no ? Asked .

Well they do ask for a return address ..lol

I hear mixed opinions about the affect a gas piston has on the life of a scope. FYI, I am using a Hawke AirMax 3 x 9 x 40 on my 15 foot pound gas piston rifle. Some otherwise knowledgeable sources say a scope is safe on a gas piston, and others say a gas piston is harder on a scope than a springer.

What is your experience.

Thanks in advance.

Bill
It's the same principle at work whether Its a coil spring or compressed gas doing the work. The piston slamming and the reciprocating recoil is tough on optics.

Some gas piston guns are harder than their spring counter parts. I think the piston mass might be more important than propulsion method. At 15 fpe an Airmax should be fine. I have like seven or eight of them. So far they're the most durable springer scopes I've found. I've had them survive my RX1 gas gun at 24 fpe.

Athlon =
when i was into PB's i bought an Athlon scope used and broken turrets ($40 ) thought i would use it as a spotting scope .
i had never heard of Athlon . Got home from the gun show and googled Athlon , saw the lifetime warrantee and that it was in Kansas city so i sent it in on a Monday. the following thursday i got an Email saying my scope was shipped .
Friday i got a brand new scope . I looked it up and to my surprise it is a$550. scope i am still useing that scope on my HW97 springer (4 years now)
Stan in KY .

Me too .. bought a used athlon display scope that was mishandled and turrets twisted to death . Sent it in. Like 5 days to get it to them- a few days with them - and 5 days back to on my bench working like new ..

Cant argue with that service .

Here on the whamo gamo taking the gas ram pounding ...lol
