I started shooting bench because of back issues 3 years ago in my yard 25 and 50 yard targets.

I started with a Maruader and UTG swat scope then this year upgraded to AA s510 which is awesome. I've shot 2000 .177 pellets with it.

I seem to strugle to get over the 240 score consistently. Usually in high 230s.

I've received help setting up the rifle to fit me. My question is will a higher quality

Scope bring me to the next level ?

Hi Tony,

Chas here from CT Airgunners. I know this thread is about scopes and BR, and, I'm wondering what you are using for a front and rear rest. That may contribute more towards better scores than a better scope. I think a better scope would help as well, but if the rests aren't stable and supporting you to shoot in a very repeatable way, a better scope will be wasted. MHO.

Thank you all for your thoughts, Its evident a higher quality scope will be in fact helpful. I then will be out of excuses.

There's a $210 4.5-27x50 Alpha6 scope on the classifieds. Buy it to see if it helps and I'll buy it from you if you aren't happy with it.

ODOYLE,

I wish I had seen this before I found a great price from Straight Shooters on a Hawke Airmax. Seems like great people to shop with.

I am a fan of great Optics. Without going into top names i will just say that I have spoiled myself. In 25 plus years of competitive shooting, I can say without a doubt better optics always result in better shooting I've heard this put a lot of ways... when I was younger and into louder music... "put as much in the speakers as you put in the stereo" when I was fishing Pike and Musky from the Fly rod, "put as much in the reel as you do the Rod", but last week I heard this... "Spend as much on the saddle as you do the horse".
