Will a Benjamin Marauder barrel fit a Crosman 1720 breech?

Have been day dreaming/visualizing another bottle build, but this time based on a Crosman 1720. Thinking of using it to shoot US style HFT.

The 1720 barrel is only 12 inches long, so not sure if I could get the power close to 20 fpe w/o buying a hot rod valve. A 20" barrel might be the ticket, if the 12 incher is just too short -

Any thoughts, suggestions, or tips from someone with (or without) first hand experience modding a 1720 would be greatly appreciated.

They are the same diameter however the TP positions do not coincide.

Even if the TP lined up would the 1720 bolt work with the Marauder barrel? The 1720 has an oring on the pellet probe and the Marauder barrel has an oring in the breech. 

however Mountain Air might be able to modify a Marauder barrel so that it work with a 1720. Doesn’t hurt to ask

Imagine going the opposite way...

Putting a 1720T barrel while lining up the TP as-is on a Marauder would cause the barrel to stick out into the magazine area.

Perhaps a hacksaw and a drill for the leade might work since the 1720T probe already has an o-ring?

I would hunt down the new MMHF barrel maker to specifically make you one for your gun. Or try Alliance who sell LW Crosman barrels. Call to ask...

A mod in the GTA forum made a 16” LW barrel for my PROD, albeit I have not shot it yet.

He also does MROD barrels to fit the PROD breech, as they are quite close in specs, but it does require a bit of machining for the port to align between the barrel and the breech.

If you choose a .177 MROD barrel he needs to machine the bolt too.

Yup the 1720T and 22 P Rod bolt screw won't interchange to cock the hammer too...

My PROD LW barrel is thicker than the OEM barrel.

It’a about 14mm vs the OEM’s 11mm.

Yes, the bolts don’t interchange.

15 ft lbs is pretty easy with just a little straight through porting for 20 shots on a stock tube. I don't think 18ft lbs would be that hard to achieve with a regulated bottle build with a 12" barrel.

18 fpe would be cool, could make that work. Guess I need to just pony up on the 1720. Have a cf 4500 psi .22 liter bottle and two regs itching to go to work ha ha

get yourself an fx barrel and liner take it to a machine shop have them fit it to your gun.Now thats a dream gun.I have 9 various brand guns with fx barrels you wont regret it.
