Wildcat Regulator Question

I have had my 25 cal. Wildcat for a month now and have put about 700 pellets through the rifle. I chronied the gun right when I got it and now after over two tins the velocities has dropped by 20 fps. using the same pellet brand and weight, also I chronied the exact same place both times and the only environmental changes was temp the second time was 15 deg cooler. I started at an average of 897 fps and now have dropped to 876. My question, Is this normal for a regulator to drop 20 fps after a few tins shot or is this something I need to have fixed? I am new to PCP's and would like someone experienced with regulators explain if this is normal or not please.

If your chronograph's angle changed any between setups that could be a reason.

Lloyd, if you sighted it in at the higher velocity try shooting the exact same distance and see where it hits now.

Marksman3006, thank you on that thought for sure. More info on my setup, the chrony was set at 10 feet as always I also have a level for the tripod the target was set at the same place as before and also was the bench. Time of day was within an hour and a half, about early afternoon and humidity was very close to the same.

Scott, after I moved my camera mount I had to sight in again. My zero had shifted after I had moved the scope for the camera mount. I now have a 47 yard optimum zero that is matching up with everything well. I just wanted to know if dropping off 20 fps is normal. I know next to nothing about these PCPs.

Did you check the internal of your barrel? When was it cleaned last time?

Sometimes it happens, as the guns internal parts start to settle with use. Also check if there is any air coming out of the breech when you take a shot. Or from the barrel set screw on top of the breech when you take a shot. You can, if you want to, increase the velocity by adjusting the hammer spring.

Thank you for your reply hsnmz. I really know next to nothing regarding PCPs. I was not sure if this was normal or not. 20fps makes a big difference at distance. So #1 check breech for leak. #2 check barrel screw for leak. Most helpful hanmz, Thanks again!

Put a transparent tape on the barrel set screw and fire the gun. It will show if the air leaks

Checked and no air from the barrel screw, no breech leak so I think you are right. The gun has settled in at 897 fps. I had no idea that it took a few shots to "warm up" the reg. All is good.
