Wildcat MKll question

I recently picked up a Wildcat MKll in .30 cal. When I removed the cheek rest there is no sideplate on the left side of the receiver. I seem to remember that FX didn't put one on that gun in .30 cal. Something about needing more room for the cocking lever. Can anyone confirm that??

No cocking arm cover plate on 30’s. The screw that would hold down the plate on the left side would dig right into the brass transfer port on the 30 cal as the 30 cal is a larger diameter. In fact, it wasn’t till a later version of the parts schematics that that screw was changed out for a shorter one, but it’s still not short enough to miss the 30 brass TP.

The cover of that area is solely relied on the cheek rest.
I had a custom cheek rest made and purposely made that side of the cheek rest taller to make sure I covered that linkage cavity really well
