Wildcat Leak

So I have a leak in the Wildcat 25. No reason. I just suddenly started hissing while it was sitting there on the bench. It is leaking near where the air cylinder screws on, but not directly. Above where the cylinder screws on, there is a little nut. On the Impact, this is an adjustment. So if I take this out, am I going to have to figure out where to set it back? Or does it not matter. A little advice would be appreciated.

That hex nut is the retailer for the main valve and spring. It’s bottom tighten lightly.

Should I try to just tighten a little before I go about replacing the o-rings there and maybe it will seal back up?

Ok, so I got out my o-ring kit for the WC and I find that the small o-ring is not exactly the same size. But it does fit into the inside of the nut-cap. Inside there is a little plastic washer that sits on top of this ring. I put a little grease on the o-ring, shoved it inside the cap. Then the washer on top. Installed the cap back onto the end of the valve and reassembled. I put 1000 psi in the air tube and used soapy water to check for bubbles. None. So I think that fixed it.

Here are the 2 o-rings. The one on the top is the original and you can see that it is slightly larger. Also, at about 12 o'clock on the top o-ring you can see slight damage to the inside surface of the o-ring, which is what caused the leak.

Nice job! Looks like your .25 is back in service. Must have been jealous of the .177 WC...

I know, right? I must say, the 25 has been mostly sitting since the Unicorn came in. Sitting charged and in the cold must have just put stress on that part somehow.

But at least now I know how to fix that part. Ordering more o-rings that size. Looks like that little guy is going to wear more than other parts.

Glad you got it fixed crusher, I'm tearing mine down right now to stick a huma in, wish me luck.

Good luck man. Should be pretty easy. I didn't remove the barrel or anything. Just loosened the 4 screws of the 2 brackets that hold things together. Twisted the airtube and it came right out. If I had the Huma in hand, I would have just put in then.

Man me too. That was the first thing I thought. 6 weeks without my gun, again... for the 3rd time. That made me just do it myself. Fortunately I had purchased a Wildcat o-ring set online when I first bought the gun.

Just FYI,

There are 2 places it can leak right there. One is around the outside of the cap nut. There is an o-ring there too. Mine was good. So I checked under that little washer in the cap and found the problem. So it wasn't leaking at the outside of the threaded part, it was leaking out that little hole in the cap.
