Wife said “You should get yourself a nice gun.” What would you get?

I have never been big on birthdays, just another day. But, this year I hit 50. The wife said I should get myself a “nice” rifle. Now I have some nice stuff but almost all was bought second hand and usually in that window of being old enough value has dropped and not yet collectible.

I am big on accuracy and precision and shoot almost exclusively under 60 yards. What I can get in the yard. The only rifle I have over 20 ftlbs is the old SuperTEN.

If I was going to buy used I would love to get an NJR or a GC2. Doubt I could afford a GC2.

So, what would you get?

Here is a list of most of what I have. I’m sure there are a few things I forgot.

My problem is I never really pay attention to the new stuff that’s out because I’m not buying. Haha.

I came close to buying a Rapid earlier this year. Awesome rifles.

I don’t know anything about the uragons. I will have to look. For new what has interested me is the Daystate Griffith, and the Edgun Leshi mk1 and2. The other rifle I have always had in my list was a Mac1 USFT. I have known Tim for 20-25 years and love the passion he has for the sport.

I did get a chance to shoot next to someone with an impact. We were at 100 yards shooting clays. He was on fire with that impact. But have read so many threads they make me a little nervous.

I love my Diana 54 and my Impact both are excellent for accuracy. The .22 54 shoots half to three quarter inch groups at 50 yards with several pellets. The 56 is even a nicer gun and one I don't yet have.

The .25 Impact will shoot the same size groups at 100 yards. So it shoots such tiny groups at 60 yards it might get boring to you. You would not need a very long barrel at that range and could turn the power down for a huge number of shots.

There are plenty of great guns out there so you have a serious first world problem on your hands. ;^)

You own a Ripley.. it doesn’t get much better than that. Maybe a Whiscombe.. if you can find one.

As luck would have it I went to shoot the Ripley this evening and it has a massive leak. Oh well, all part of the fun. It is about the same accuracy as the daystates and FWB but it feels so good in the hands. There is zero play when you work the bolt. It is like a bank vault.

Fine yourself an Az tuned Rapid in .177 of .20. At your distance it will hang with anything on your stated list. Built like a tank and will last forever.

Another vote for a rapid, a true pcp classic and can still embarrass modern counterparts👍
