Why you need flags to be successful at 50y

This cutting matt helps with aligning the front rest with the bag.

Had the Red Wolf Safari .22 HP out today at 50 yards with some N50 targets.

I continue to shoot the JSB Knock Out 25g slugs, and had a nice clean barrel. Shot a 714 ( 225-5x, 243-12X, and a 246-7X ) total for three cards. The 225 was purposely shot without flags, as the wind was very light when I started, almost no wind. It did pick up quickly however, and I deployed flags for the other two cards. I wanted to see my scoring difference with the flags.

Shot "5" five shot groups at the end of the day and had a .51" CTC average. Top left was the best, wish they were all that way!

This is my set up and no one there again today. I had the range to myself.

Joe F - If you are watching, I like the new Wicks Dual Vane Flags. Can't read them worth a darn, but I am getting a bit better on certain wind conditions, usually tail and head winds. I like the right to left or left to right 9am 3pm wind conditions best if the wind is moderate. The head/tail winds can be tricky for me. Heck, all the wind conditions are tricky!

This is "Louie," my son's new Golden Pup. He is 10 weeks old and is the darling of the family right now. Hard to get mad at that cute face when he does something he should not. Great pup so far!
