Someone enlighten me. My fill tanks are 4500# fills on a good hot day. So I get 1 full fill and the 300 bar level. Or I can carry a compressor or a 500 CF tank at 6000 psi. Why? why? why? just for BIG numbers?
Why the L are the gun makers going to 300 bar fills

Just imagine the efficiency if you fill the tanks to 4500 PSI at ambient 0F and then travel to a location that is 100F ambient!

The constant quest for more? Both of my current PCPs are 240 bar. I don’t need or want a 300 bar fill PCP, but many other shooters do. So the market will have the final say.

I have 2 EDgun bullpups. The maximum recommended fill pressure is 300 bar. There is no requirement that I fill to that 300 bar max. I see that extra 50 bar fill-pressure allowance as a convenience for those users who desire a few more shots per fill.

Yep. my Cricket holds 300 Bar and I have never had it past 250 Bar ... but if I were to go hunting for a day or so, it's nice to know i could fill to 300 Bar and get a few more shots ... but here at the house I have no real need to go past 259/

Yes..I agree with 2manyAirGunzs. No problem having extra capacity to use if you wish. Kinda like a savings account...there when you need it.

Manufacturers of guns that fill to 300bar can gloat over higher FPE and higher shot count as well. Like others have said just because you can fill that high does not mean you have to as many if not most guns shoot better/more consistent at lower than full pressure fills. Still it is a definite plus for those who shoot larger calibers or long distance and a win for most anyone else who buys one.

A bunch of Crickets, keep the fill pressure to 2.2 bar, I only shoot 3 mags then refill. I won't buy a gun with a needed 4500 psi fill. An interesting lesson was learned when I took a 4400 psi cold Great White and tried to fill an empty Benjamin 12 cu.ft tank. They both leveled out at about 3400 psi

No gun “needs” to fill to 4500 psi even if that’s the rated pressure. My huben has a rated pressure of 5000 psi with a titanium alloy tube but I only fill to 270 bar and it gets me 80-100 shots depending on reg setting. It is nice to know that the tube is rated for that kind of pressure though

I only fill to 3000psi (except for all of my 1500psi fill MAC1 USFTs and 2000psi Benjamin Discos and Maximuses)no matter what brand gun no matter what the stated max fill ptessures are. I just simply fill more often. Don't want to end up with leaky guns thats all. Damn straight ESPECIALLY my FXs NEVER EVER see fills above 3000psi.

..and for safety reasons, to fill small 200 bar reservoirs like PCP pistols from a 300 bar bottle can be a bit scary

You can get an adjustable inline regulator and set it to 200 bar (or whatever bar you want) output that way the pistol or whatever you fill wont ever be overfilled.

Well 10m match air rifles have been at 300 bar for years! simply because the clubs buy a compressor and can fill the gun directly to 300 bar here!

1) Mostly I think to improve shot count in regulated guns, especially at higher power levels.
2) Look at the factory regulator settings. Unless you're seeking the highest powers, regulators are more likely to be set from 110-130 BAR.
3) Any fill pressure above the regulator pressure will make the gun work properly. The higher the fill pressure, the more shots you can get per fill, as others have mentioned.
4) It's up to you to decide what pressure to fill at, based on your equipment. If you don't need extra power, readjust hammer spring down and/or lower regulator pressure (if adjustable), to get into your personalized comfort zone of power, shot count, and fill pressure.

I just don't see it. I have two 250 bar 480cc guns and two 4500# tanks 44cf and 75cf and get 4200# fill if I'm lucky. I can fill guns to full and almost full many many times. But at 300 bar I will not get 1 true fill. Is the xtra cost for a gun with 300 bar fill worth the xtra expense? Is beating a compressor to get the last 500# worth it?

My Edgun R5M .177 fills to 300bar. I never get there. What's nice is that I can fill it w/ as much as possible and leave the tank at home. This thing shoots down to 85bar (still on the reg) and this equates to 10+ magazines. It's pushing 20.5fpe and a head shot at a bunny @75yds dropped him in his tracks. Super accurate, nice gun. It would be better only if the mag couldn't be shot empty - that's my one grip about the edgun. That and they need a .30 repeater. Maybe the R7M...
