Why the Altaros booster is so slow

The wattage of a YH compressor is some 1800W (2½hp) and it can deliver @30liters/min (at 0bar and it decreases fast).

A similar Wattage aircompressor is delivering some 300+liters of free air which is way less under 8-10bar (more like 65-80liters).

An aircompressor is only rated for 20/80 meaning 20% work / 80% idle/cooling time.

So now that 65-80 liters a minute are cut down by 1/4 to some 12,5-20liters/minute.

To add injury to insult the Alaros booster uses some 75% of it's supplied air for work.

In the end only @3-4liters enter your tank every minute of use for the booster compared to 6-8 times that for th YH.

If we work the other way around and calculate what aircompressor would fill at the same volume as a Yh then we end at some 80+cfm. Food for thought!

Where the booster shines is for elevated pressures where no additional stress is imposed on the equipment (compared to cheap 2 piston compressors) and the ability to boost noble gasses.

Running two of these AS25 (111 CFM @ 125 PSI each) the second only starts if the first cannot maintain100cfm @ 110psi. We have (3) 200 gallon tanks and an air dryer system. Altaros advanced booster on the way.

I'm curious how slow it will be to top off and also fill from scratch my SCBA 45 minute 4500psi tank. I will post the results for those who have commercial systems and are wondering about the booster.

I believe the booster piston can only move at a certain rate of speed no matter how much volume of air is supplied.

Chickenthief maybe able to add some insight here

I also like aVe, but he's gotten pretty bad with the language. I'd like to watch some of his videos with the kids for learning, but can't. Can't even watch them in the living room when they're near. But seeing as how he's brining in $30k+/month, don't think he's worried about that. The chooch factor is strong.

Yeah, he's got a couple videos that would be great for kids, except for the language and innuendo... Definitely for mature audiences who are not easily offended.
