Why some hand pump gauges have liquid?

Hello,

When I'm looking through some PCP hand pumps, some gauges have some liquid in it, and some dont. What is the purpose of the liquid, and what difference does it make when pumping a PCP?

If I understand correctly, the oil in the guage is intended to dampen out needle vibration. Don't see it as beneficial with a hand pump but a definite plus on a compressor..

Pretty much.. its a glycerin i think as well

OK, glycerin makes sense, higher viscosity than oil.

The Glycerin in gauges is there not only for vibration protection...
It is used more for Shock protection..From both external(mechanical) and internal(pressure) shock .
To protect internal mechanisms from damage from sudden transient movements.

Give those men a cigar, all correct. Some of my fill adapters & 1 Yong Heng came with glycerin filled gauges, some not. Whatever the manufacturers can get in bulk for the best price is what they go with at the time. Not really NEEDED on a fill adapter or hand pump IMHO but on a compressor, I'd switch to glycerin filled due to vibration.
