22 has been around for a looooong time.
I believe as such that for better for worse the industry is moving in one direction really. Higher n higher power numbers, higher shot count numbers, better accuracy yadda yadda yadda but the absolute MAIN thing here is that the midrange hang tag units are closing in on what used to be premium only.
I honestly believe, as things are evolving, that in a few mere yrs the threshold for premium once will be where the now midrange units end up.
Me i´m a 25cal dude i guess though and quite honestly that there argument on ammunition cost? Couldn´t care less, it´s still coffee n change vs the powder burners. So no.
I won´t argue over if a tin of slugs run me $8 or $10. Why? Well. Factory ammo for my 338 Lapua can run $15 a SHOT. So... perspective gentlemen. Perspective.
In other words there´s other factors way more important to me.
These days though, yeah i use a fair share of pills for my pcp´s no doubt. Keep my pcp´s for pest control really, rats specifically. The newer era hollowpoint slugs when they exit the north side of 1000fps sure does a number on them critters, which is EXACTLY what the Dr ordered. An as humane dispatch as possible.
Yep.
All to aware they´re rats, i don´t care. It´s life and should as such be shown respect.
Thus cost of a given slug takes a backseat to that above in my book. Btw, yes. Yes i shoot 22´s on the same premise too. Pellets for plinking? Sure but for the main part it´s about slugs and efficiency on target, and let me tell you... the current era hollows in essence hands decapitation on the critters and it very well can´t get anymore humane than that.
