Why shooting in shade is a wind force multiplier

From the looks of the shadow,switch places with the tables. Move the larger umbrella table where the little table sits in the picture and vice versa. Then shoot from the little table that isn't affected by the wind on the umbrella? It should still be in the shade from the way the shade is showing as pictured?

Still, that's some mighty fine shooting!

I would except that table is about to fall apart. I need to get a heavier table, like a wood picnic table, or better yet, an actual shooting bench

Cool, when ya get your new bench maybe you can modify the umbrella stand to work as a stand alone unit?

When I'm not shooting from the porch, I use a cast iron umbrella base to sit next to my bench.

I've tried the water filled bases, but don't like them. I like the square metal base where I can sit a couple of cinder blocks on it for added weight in light wind. Depending on the side the wind is coming from, I can just add an extra cinder block to that side to help fight the wind.

This is similar to the cast iron base I use. Just need 2 or 3 of the old heavy cinder blocks or some 50 pound iron plates from an old barbell would be even better?

I'm not sure what a barbell is, but the base I have is pretty heavy. I'm thinking that a heavy shooting bench with support for the umbrella would work in any wind I'd care to shoot in.

I have a friend that said hes going to make me something like a ice fishing shanty with heat so I can shoot during the winter in comfort.

Maybe he could make me a removable roof for summer.

yer air tank is in the sun too. If its tethered, could be an issue.



My first thought when I saw the table pic was being in the sun changed the gun/scope somehow.....

Do away with umbrella get 10x10 pop up canopy from HF for $60 it will not be connected to table at all

My shooting table and gun rest is solid concrete.....so stable I can't move the gun; Need a helper to move the target around, to get on it.
