Why no Daystates in the top 20 of Extreme Benchrest?

I think he means many of the top shooters and Youtubers are sponsored by FX and therefore shoot their guns. Dubber doesn't even bring his own gun with from home but gets one supplied.

Then you have many of the rest of the guys that watch the youtubers, are influenced by the magnificent marketing they provide, buy FX and go to EBR.

The other manufacturers are definitely the relative minority.

Regardless, people read way too much into EBR results when it comes to evaluating a gun. All those top end guns shoot as straight as each other. It comes down to the shooter and the wind. So what you should be thinking when looking at the scores is whether you can afford to buy a Ted, Matt, Shane or Thane ?

Keep an eye on this year. I think you'll see more Daystates in the top 20, both Pro and Amateur. Look for the Red Wolf or Wolverine R in .22... I saw Air Wolfs and Crickets in Speed Silo, and lots of Daystates in American Field Target. In fact, they placed first and third, and if you count Brocock, 6 out of top 10... If you had a gun that you used also for hunting, which would you prefer it shoot best in, 75/100 yard Benchrest or Field Target? Food for thought...

I imagine that people go with the gun that gives them the best chance of winning. I own 4 rifles and if I was going to enter, I'd definitely choose my FX Wildcat or even the T12 over my Renegade or Bantam. I like all of my guns, but the FX guns I own are more consistent and more accurate than the other two.

Then you need to try an Anschutz!

yes i think DAY STATE will start to push themselves into a few top 20 spots WHERE FX and more recently RAPID AIR WEAPONS are doing there best by owning the top 20 spots,,AFTER the loss of TONY BELAS ,DAY STATE seem to be putting it together with there latest releases RED WOLF and WOLVERINE.well see the usual in the top 20... FX Crown and IMPACT maybe a Boss or ROYAL a THOMAS or 2 PROBALY a RED WOLF or 3 ,then you have RAPID AIR WEAPONS that neither TED OR MATT have REVIEWED would love to hear what they got to say ABOUT RAW ,,EVERYONE KNOWS I LOVE MY RAPID AIR WEAPONS ALONG WITH FX AND EDGUNN TOP 3 FOR ME ,,any ways RAW has a new release a HIGH POWER 22 cal 50 FPE look for this one could be a surprise HYNZIE

I think in terms of advertising FX is really good at doing that, they have sponsored the right people in the air gun community. I have a .25 impact and I love it. But I also own a RAW air rifle along with wicked air rifle and American air arms. I've even had a daystate or two but it would be nice to see other quality guns in the top 20. Besides all the high end guns really do shoot very very well and have great quality. I would suspect to see other makers getting in there cause FX will motivate them to do so. If you think about it that is really good for all of us who love air guns. Just means the market will be competitive and makers will be pushing the edge on technology to come out with better and better air rifles.

I think it really very simple, FX simply outshoots Daystate. If it was the other way around, Daystate would be in the top 3.

Watch this older video from Matt:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tap9RcvH-QY

At one point he describes setting up the Impact he was using for the Extreme Bench rest and all the troubles he had. Still shot well once he got it setup. In the newest, Guardian of the Nuts, he spoke of being able to pick up an Impact he's never shot before, and set it up to be nearly identical to his gun at home. Very repeatable settings.

My own experience with the Impact is that it's extremely (Infinitely) adjustable so you can get the best performance, and with the new X barrels, it's simply ahead of the game. The gun was set for 830 FPS with the JSB 25 grain pellets, and I was able to adjust to about 840 FPS with the 34 grain JSB's in about 5 minutes. It required moving the power wheel from 2 to 3 and adjusting the valve screw a bit. Really simple, really accurate.

Daystate makes an incredibly beautiful gun that shoots very well. To be honest, the Impact is BUTT UGLY, but shoots just a touch better and the competition shooters shoot whatever wins. If the FX guns weren't winning, doesn't matter how much FX sponsored people, they'd shoot something else.

I have spent today shooting my friends FX Crown and my Daystate Wolverine R and must say my DS has out shot the FX it was close very very close. I can see why every one is raving about the Crown the adjustability is good not great on a sub 12 pound rifle. The Daystate is not adjustable but who realy needs advisability on 12 pound rifles.

i was surprised at the Crown i would get a good shot string followed by a poor one.

The only issue with my DS was the magazine in the end I moved over to the single shot try and never looked back.

Would I buy a FX yes I would great rifles do I need one nope I am happy with the DS Wolverine R and all my other Wolverine types I have them all.

Fx has just been insanely innovative these past few years with barrel designs and gun designs. Accuracy is highly debatable but there are some key points which have altered people's opinions on daystate. One is that most if not all are unregulated due to them deciding to stick with the Harper hammer system. This made them take a pretty hard hit as regulators keep consistent output pressure on shots when cylinder pressure continues to drop. They say the mct system/with Harper hammer system is a great alternative but this too is debatable. Then lothar walther barrels have now been seen as excessive for pellets and that smooth twist is both cheaper, simpler with similar results without damaging the pellets. Lothar Walther tried to remedy this with polygonal barrels with little success. Many youtubers claim that lead fouling is a issue with lothar Walther barrels and that smooth twist is near immune to this. Daystates movement toward electronic system has not had very good reception as it seems like a extra chore to worry about in a gun and adds complexity to the system. Then fx's pricing on their guns are far more competitive than Daystate's. Fx has also taken over social media, and YouTube so it's just more popular overall.

Now this doesn't mean daystate is dead in the water. I still think their quality is above and beyond and that they have taken a careful approach to adopting innovative features. I've owned both fx and daystates and can say that this time period is more of a Golden Age for FX. However, I can assure you, Daystates time will come soon enough.

All of these points basically made FX a majority leader in the airgun industry and this is why we've seen them win all these competitions. Then there's the idea that fx has a slight edge in accuracy. However, I don't know enough about both guns to tell you if this is true or not.

More and more Daystates are now coming through with Huma regulators. I suspect they will begin putting them in most of their guns in the near future.

This made them take a pretty hard hit as regulators keep consistent output pressure on shots when cylinder pressure continues to drop. They say the mct system/with Harper hammer system is a great alternative but this too is debatable.

It does eliminate hammer bounce and that can be felt when the gun is shot. It is a very smooth cycle. Now add the regulator and you just jumped to a much higher level.

I can agree that they are choked (at least mine is) quite hard at the muzzle, but if one understands this and keeps it clean, the LW barrel is generally right up there with the others.

The smooth twist barrel is known not to work that well with 177 pellets and although the trend is for larger calibers these days, 177 is far from being dead. All my guns are 177 and they are all very accurate and that includes the Wolverine R. The newer X barrels may be a different story.

I too shy away from mouse click triggers, but the new Red Wolf seems to be doing well except for the price which does tend to be high throughout the entire line of their guns.

FX guns with their infinite adjustability may act like a golf club to many people. They buy the club that can be adjusted in 50 different directions and wind up keeping it at the neutral setting. When they start playing with the adjustments, their game goes further to poop.

All of these points basically made FX a majority leader in the airgun industry and this is why we've seen them win all these competitions. Then there's the idea that fx has a slight edge in accuracy. However, I don't know enough about both guns to tell you if this is true or not.

True there are more FX guns on the line than Daystates, but with that, the chances of coming out at or closer to the top is improved also simply due to higher numbers.

Of course, after spending all those bucks on my Daystate, I am sort of tilted to that side.
