Why no airgun kits?

Why don't manufacturers offer airgun kits As an option? Using the FX Impact as an example only, many of us have learned a lot from the Masterclass series. Many of us spend top $$ for a high end airgun, then take it completely apart to polish the valve rod, hammer carrier, trigger parts, upgrade fasteners and o-rings and install mods. Why not just sell the gun as a kit like AR's And let the user assemble changing things to their liking? What better way to learn your gun than by assembling it yourself?

Because if they offer it as a kit, it would be cheaper. If it’s cheaper, a ton of people are going to jump on the cheaper option whether they are qualified to put it together or not. The result would be places like UA, AOA and PA having to open help centers. You know, the number you call when you have an issue with a purchase and you pray you can understand the person helping you. A PCP is not a RC car or a flintlock. It’s a very nice looking bomb. The fact that they don’t sell them as kits is just them saving most people from themselves.

I agree totally ] plus if they can't get it together correctly IT IS THE GUNS FAULT not the fact that they do not read or can not understand the instructions .

Honestly , I don't see spending top $ for a gun ( of any kind ) and then tearing it down to "smooth out, replace this or that, upgrade etc". I understand certain mods to a point, but if I spend four figures for ANY gun , it's one that gets cleaned of "shipping lube" , sighted & shot! Of course , just my rant.

Is your implication here is that RC cars and Flintlock rifles are inherently safe vs. a PCP being a ticking timebomb. I have no numbers to back this up, however, I would venture a guess that more houses have burnt to the ground from RC car LiPo batteries than injuries due to PCP rifles. No idea on flintlock rifles either but a face full of black powder going off seems marginally dangerous at the very least. Attempting to produce products that are idiot proof only tends to produce better idiots, these people can’t be saved from themselves.

I absolutely think the first part of your argument holds water. Why offer a kit at a reduced price when sales are acceptable for assembled units at a higher price?

I sympathize a bit with the OP. Building something from a kit is an excellent way to learn about it. Even a number of airplanes are available as kits. Gee, what could possibly go wrong? . With any kit it is always incumbent upon the builder to follow the instructions, and I would imagine the manufacturer must carry insurance to that end.

unqualified people try and tune their air guns and when they screw up it's the gun manufacturer's fault, now imagine putting it together from a kit lol.
A rebuild kit and specialty tools would be nice as a kit though.

Are you kidding? Judging from all the outhouse airgun mechanics I read about here, I doubt that there are few that can assemble one of these without f----g it up completely.

I am surprised FX sells slug power kits, maintenance kits, and plenum kits, which require substantial disassembly/reassembly. What about that liability?
They could just call it a Complete Rebuild Kit and include one of every part in the whole gun.

4,000+ PSI trumps about everything we mess with when it comes to danger. But how quickly we forget when we become comfy around it.

Can't you pretty much already do that with a lot of guns? I mean, you can pretty much order all of the individual parts for a Marauder. I would not be surprised to find that I can order the main block and all of the other bits to build an FX Impact. And this may be by design. To put out a kit with all the parts lowers the bar for builders from people who can be arsed to read a parts list and make an order to just about anyone with the money.
