Why don’t PCP’s have an in-line on/off valve?

Why don’t PCP air guns have an on/off valve to releave air gun pressure? I’ve been playing paintball for over 20 yrs and have had some pretty high end paintball guns. 99% of paintball guns have an inline on/off valve of some sort on the gun or on the air tank. Leaving constant air pressure in a gun is not good long jevety for the seals, o-rings, gauges and valves. I’m pretty new to airguns with in the last couple of years and one thing I’ve noticed is that most PCP’s don’t have an in-line on/off valve. Why is that? I had an FX Impact and it had a small air leak and I think it was because it was under constant pressure all the time even when you remove the tank. Your thoughts.

Check the link below for what inline valve looks like for paintball.

I think PCP's are designed to be pressurized at all times, manufacturers suggest it. I've heard the opposite that you're saying, that its better for the o-rings to have a constant pressure rather than none. I'm sure others will chime in.

Thats what I have always heard as well and thats from the manufacturers not random people.

I don't know if it is better on the O-rings to keep them under constant pressure, but I have heard from multiple people that if your pressure drops down to nothing, as in the case of a bad leak, that you stand a good chance of the o-ring moving enough to where it will no longer seal. It doesn't have to have maximum pressure on it but I have always heard that you need to keep the air tube and all pressurized parts at close to half full.

I store airguns at the pressure I start shooting them at which is anywhere from 2900 to 3200 psi, I have put them away at around 2000 psi if I’m to lazy to top them off but from everything I’ve read and have heard a full airgun is a happy airgun plus it’s easier to tell if you do have a leak if you store them at a set pressure, half to full is recommended to keep the seals sealed is my understanding.

I've had a Marauder under pressure for 5 years now. The only time I let the pressure drop was to perform a repair and install a regulator about a month ago. Never had any leaking problems so from my expansive experience with one (1) gun, leaving under pressure is fine.

Don't know what the difference is between paintball and PCP, but I've been told to keep it under moderate pressure if storing for a long time to keep everything in place as well. maybe that's an old wive's tale, but hasn't hurt the gun yet.

Anyone contacted a vendor to see what the official word is from someone like Crosman or FX?
