Why doesnt PA and AD have NSA/VK slug?

Prymaid air and airgun depot are both big company in selling airgun and ammos. How come they do not stock nsa and vk slugs? Cause we could by 3 and get the 4th free, and plus have 10% off and free shipping over $150. We could be saving much more. Only way to get vk slug is from ebay or the guy who makes them. And nsa slug from Nielsen site or utah airgun. Which all these does not have buy 3 get the 4th free, 10% off, and free shipping and no taxes.

Both are tiny operations compared to say JSB.... As far as I know VK slugs are all still hand pressed, NSA was all by hand until recently, but still the investment in the machinery and tooling must have been significant to produce SOME of their slugs. I can't imagine either discounting their products enough to retailers (or having the appropriate volume) for PA to be able to include these in those deals. Time will tell if H&N and JSB slugs products in the works are of equal performance, maybe then the volume and pricing will follow.

My guess is they don't need to. Competing against yourself is not smart business.

How is that competing? They make the slugs and have dealers/retails sell it for them. They can sell their product faster that way. That's what all jsb, crosman, daisy, hatsan, daystate, etc is doing. Prymaid air and airgun depot are not making slugs to compete with nsa or vk. They are just the retailer.

The small producers get 100% of the cost when the small producer sells his own product. That is called RETAIL pricing.

If the small producer sells his stuff to a vendor at WHOLESALE pricing, then it tthen vendor sells ot the customer at RETAIL pricing.

The small producer has to sell wholesalesl pricing at about -40% to the vendor. The small producer earns more money selling direct so long as he is not over producing slugs and has unsold inventory sitting on his shelf. NSA and VK are not having that problem. They can't supply the big outlets with the volume required, and they make more money selling direct. This is a niche market, not Wal-Mart.

I get you make more money by selling it yourself. You get 100% the sale price. But as a business wants to grow. They mass produce and have retailers/dealers sell it for them. That's how it works. Cant wait till h&n and jsb make their slugs available to the public. Finger cross.

Some of this was already pointed out but I wanted to elaborate. Nick @ Nielsen and Dale @ Varmint Knocker are competitors but both great guys, make a great product and are small compared to companies like JSB or HSN.

I don’t think Dale could meet production demands if he sold at retail stores, he already sells a ton of product that he makes himself by hand. Nick really has no reason to sell through a bunch of retailers, it would drive up prices and in essence he’d be competing with himself. Maybe he’ll do it in the future, who knows? His prices are already great, because he sells directly to the consumer and through a few stores like Utah Airguns. It’s more profitable this way!

Nick did exactly what everyone was crying for... he expanded production, is offering more products at much lower prices with more calibers and weights to come! The cost of a box of slugs is now about the same as pellets so it’s a little hard to complain that he’s doing what everyone has asked for!

Nick is also really listening to what we want and designing slugs that are more compatible with a wide range of air guns. He’s offering more calibers, weights, shapes, hollow points and base designs than he ever has with more to come.

The slug game has come a long way in the past year alone. Nick, Dale and the evolution of FX slug liners is a major reason why. In the big scheme of things, $18 for a box of slugs really isn’t that much money....at least compared to your Impact and scope.

I guess my long winded point is this; why not just pay the $18 for the slugs and keep these smaller, great business guys that are helping drive the industry in business? They’ve earned our allegiance! Mine anyway. Have a good one.

You will see more dealers carrying our products. With our new high speed machine it gets our prices down and volume up. We are working right not to bring more USA dealers online and we can meet their volume requirements. We also make some of the slugs for sale that do not have our name on the box. We also have dealers all over the world like Krale and several dealers in South Africa, Brazil, Canada others with more coming.

Didn’t mean to speak for you Nick! I think you’re doing super, great things and don’t get enough credit or accolades for driving the slug trend to the next level. You know I’m one of your biggest supporters and love your products. By the way, check your PM’s, I tested a bunch of those slugs yesterday and sent you a message with the details.

The 29gr. dish base are the best .25 caliber slug of any I’ve tested thus far, and I mean any, over like the past year. Consistent 1” groups at 100yds and teeny-tiny little groups at 50yds. I even shot a ten shot group at 150yds. that was about 1.5”-1.75” across. No fliers and no inaccuracies, they’re just awesome!!! Thank you for all you do buddy!

Nice..I hope airgun depot and pyramid air carry your product. I just love their buy 3 get 4th free deal plus 10% off with free shipping. I could order tons of 20 pack and 5 of them would be free with their deal then minus 10% off and shipping and no tax, could save a lot of money. I see Utah airgun carry the NSA slugs but they do not offer that kind of deal.

You do realize that the "get one free" deal is no deal, right?

It's a sales gimmick - they are marking up the single tin price +30% (compaired to competitors like Trenier Outdoors) so you actually ARE paying for the free one.

Do the math and four tins from AD or PA is the same as four tins from Trenier.

Another way to say it is Trenier is 30% cheaper per tin.

I buy 4000 pellets once a year so I can wash, weigh and sort then lube and store - every year for four years Trenier gave me the best price.

On slugs, mostly I cast my own .250, .257, .357 and .457 but if I want precision for accuracy testing Nick's (NSA's) can't be beat. I shoot his bullets in a rifle then that's the goal for me to reach with my cast.

His pricing is amazingly good too, only because I already have had the casting equipment for many years are mine cheaper to produce.
