I shoot because it's usually a peaceful break from the rest of reality.

+1 Exactly, that's why I shoot as much as possible because there're so many things that comes into play from day to day throughout our lives.

Before I was burglarized and started staying home as much as possible, I got all that from fishing.

Now, pesting in my backyard and the pursuit to always make precise, clean kills on pests is my being.

Why do I shoot?

I have an airgun.

Why do I have an airgun?

Because I shoot.

I shoot, therefore I am.

I feel satisfied when I shoot whether it's paper, cans, bells, a knot on a limb. Each time it's can I hit it? I want to be able to fire one shot and take a squirrell, rabbit,starling, crow, raccoon. It's a challenge, I seldom shoot off of a bench. If I'm lucky I can kneel or rest on a branch of a bush. So each shot is a challenge to me to be good enough to hit what I aim at.

I used to love plinking and pesting most, and I still do them, but I think I get the most enjoyment out of shooting off bags at a paper bull and trying to get the smallest groups. When I was younger I never shot at paper targets other than an initial zeroing in. I guess thats part of getting old.

Same here. Hitting a one inch spinner at 50 yards with an HW30 is pure satisfaction!
