Gamo Why do they make this top mounting rail like this?

So I got a Gamo swarm Magnum, generation 1, in 22 caliber. Anyway I wasn't sure why this top rail that came with the gun had a break in it. I decided to mount my bkl scope rings right over it just to see if it would hurt or not. I didn't have any of the pellets that normally shoots so I shot a few that were close in weight. Anyway I wasn't happy with the groups and I'm thinking this is the problem. I've got one of those one piece rails with the mounting stud that goes in the hole at the top of this rail on the gun but I'm not sure it's going to get my scope far enough back like I want it. But anyway I guess I'm going to have to change these out and try it. So anyone have any idea why this top rail, the one right underneath the silver bkl Mount, is split like this? My Swarm Whisper has one that's a solid unit. I wouldn't think that even using a two-piece mount you could Mount one on one side of the split and one on the other because that would still defeat whatever purpose it serves. What's everybody's thoughts on this? Thanks.

First off you got the ring mounted wrong. Your not supposed to mount on the small part .. it holds the rubber bumpers for the recoil reduction the long rail butts up to .

But ya, my scope using regular mount / ring. Is toi forward and i got to hunch up for good eye relief.

I may got a thread on the rrr at gta forum

Only picture i got now rest on old device i cant retrive

The 2 rubber bumpers in the rail part

Yeah, that's what I thought. I need to move everything forward. I haven't had time to switch it tonight but I'm 'hoping' my one-piece will work. But when I threw it up there, the scope seemed too far forward, but I'm going to have to take another look at it. My two rubber bumpers were never that far apart, so I'm assuming once I take my rings off it'll settle into a 'normal' spacing. Thanks/

Set back mount. Yeah, that's what I might need. Thanks for the pic/wording. If my scope had more meat between the bell housing and the tower it wouldn't have an issue. I'll mount it the next couple days and see if I can get it to work. Or see what other scopes I might have. Crap. I hate having to change plans when I have a certain setup in mind. I guess money can eventually fix anything even if I have to purchase a set back mount.
