Why didn't fx think of this when they made the fx chrony?

So fx made the pocket chrony. Then they also made the chrony display. So why didn't they just make 1 product that read the speed and also display the speed? Each product cost $250. So that's $500. I was going to buy them so I don't need my phone but then saw the garmin xero c1. Like wtf. It's a pocket size chrony that will read your speed and also display it at the same time. Price is $559-600. So why the heck fx didn't think of putting both into a single product. Wtf is up with making 2 separate device? Come on fx. Well no brainer, garmin got my vote and money on this one.

With the new shot shed, and the openings we shoot out of, i have contemplated a setup where the chrono would be not on the rifle.

I both like, and dislike the new FX chrono / display setup

I would prefer a setup where you maybe had the screen on a rail nearer to you and easy to read, and you then maybe had the radar out front on a short wire.
I dont see the need for BT, i hate BT but probably mainly as it is part of phones which i hate intensely.

Compared to " normal " people it is extremely rare i use wifi.
at home my computers are on a wire, even my laptop, and my CCTV cameras, also on wires.

(Why not) ... make 1 product that read the speed and also display the speed?

It was less expensive to design the original FX chronographs without an internal screen. And a screen wasn't needed by most people since many folks already had a phone then which could use the FX chrony app to show and speak and record the chrony data at a distance removed from the device. This approach is more convenient for the user than needing to see a screen built into the device.

I've had 3 or 4 of the optical chrony over the years, then an expensive and quite finicky LabRadar, then both versions of the FX chronies (one with the separate display), and more recently the Garmin shown above. No doubt that it can be useful for a quick velocity check to have a screen on the device itself. For more extensive comparisons of test sessions using the remote chrony app on a phone is the way to go for collecting or transfering data, whether or not the device has a screeen on it which shows individual shots.

At least the new radar chronies which are positioned under the barrel are harder to accidentally shoot that those older optical chronographs. I accidentally shot 2 optical chronies in years past trying to use a scope to aim through the flight path above the light detectors. In retrospect I probably should have had the 1st one mounted taxidermy style as a reminder to be more careful.

Since this popped up i will add again.

I am now using the nate / buck rail inline chrony, it do not have BT but instead wifi, on the + side no APP needed and so umpteen people could connect to the chrono and follow me there.
I do have to power the inline chrono with a wire, but that is also fine but i have gotten one that is longer than the provided one CUZ my power bank are lying on the bench, and me changing distances and targets often mean the barrel do get moved around a bit, so need surplus wire.

Once hooked up i forget all about it.
The chrono use the voice in the devise, so i now get my speeds called out in burly Danish guttural / potato in mouth language.
My phone are fine still but i could also bring my laptop for a bigger screen, but then i would have to put that on the bench to my Left, where my friend will be shooting if i am not alone.

It would seem the issues my friend had with the FX V2 chrony,,,,,,, are solely phone related, at least now using a old android 7 phone of mine the chrono work fine on his rifles, though not yet tested on the DRS where the issues was biggest.
Anyway we swapped chronos so the V2 are now mine and he got my old V1 CUZ that work just fine on his DRS and with his android 13 phone from redmi

waiting for a silencer permit from the police, the buck rail chrono need to be quieted down a bit so we can hear the birds chirp while shooting in the shed.

Phone and PC chronoing ( poor sound on my PC im like where is my treble )
